"Out of the dawn, there came the
sunshine,
Out of the dawn, a dream came
true."
And so goes the theme song of
tho Vltaphone success, "Warming

Till appears in the role of Bert

iho has aspirations to Join the
v,w York Yankees. SeTcral amua
w and disturbing incidents take
nlace to add humor and anxiety to
the story. Dix is immense in his
rart yes he even looks the part.
Locale of the story is placed in
the spring training camp of the
Yankees and later on the base ball
diamonds of the major league
clubs. The picture is climaxed by
an exciting world series champion
ship yame. Vltaphone makes it pos
siblo to hear the cheering of the
throng, the plays called by the um
pire the crack Of the bat as it
connects with tht ball and all the
other things that go with a ball
pime. This effect contrasted with
the soft melodic strains of "Out of
the Dawn," played while Dlx wos
Marjorie Tost (played by Jean Ai
ihur) reveals the color and tone
which hare only come to the
screen with the advent of the
"talkies."
"Take Me Home" sounds like
the termination of a long argument
doesn't it. but really, it's the title
of Bebe Daniels' vehicle now show
ins at ihe Lincoln. Bebe is a chorus
girl and befriends Neil Hamilton

who has come to the city to be a
Juggler. The love plot develops
with a new brand of complications
and the clever climax well, drop
in and see for yourself.
Supporting Miss Daniels and Mr.
Hamilton are Liljan Tashman,
Doris Hill, Joe E. Brown,, Ernie
Wood, and several other well
known personages of the screen.
On the stage we find Mack and
Stanton, doing bits called "Home
Sweet Homo." Clever gags heip to
set off an equally clever idea. Pre
ceding this pair are Lauren and
Ladare in "Moosic" and believe us
this team's gospel is "variety is the
spice and so forth." . Everything
from accordlans and pitch pipes to
shoe horns and hum drums were
used by the team. Closing the stage
show are Beehee and Rubyatte,
"athletes who are different." Gre
cian setting and costumes add a
nice touch of color to the tumbling
act
Chaney, the master-menace of
the screen, has changed his tactics.
He is still the same menace as
ever but he has a different objec
tive in "While the City Sleeps."
This time he is a menace to the
enemies of society and not to those
with whom the audience is in sym
pathy. The complex character of
Chaney's role displays his fine
ability the hard boiled detective
on one side and on the other his
love for simple home life.
"While the City Sleeps" is a hit
for Metro Goldwyn Mayer and is a
new success for Mr. Chaney. (0-phtuin)

An empire hung on that strap
THE hitch must be right, the pack must
he tight On details such as that hung
the attainment of the day's goal and the final
success of the expedition.
Lewis and Clark, first Americans to cross
the continent, knew the importance of
"trifles" in the concerted plan. They saw to
it their equipment was right, they supervised
every step from man-power to pack-horse
power, they applied sure knowledge and
constant vigilance to their task.
Today's leaders in business have the same
point cf view.
Men in the Bell System, exploring new
country, take infinite pains in preparation.
They work toward the smooth coordination
of engineering, manufacturing, warehousing,
accounting, finance, public service.
