First of Freshman Tourna
ment Games Scheduled

EIGHT TEAMS ENTERED
The first of the freshman league
football games will bo held this
week when eight teams will get
into action. The games will be
j.lnyed Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday but the exact schedule lias
not been announced.
The games for this week are
Western Nebraska versus Kansas,
Omaha versus Lincoln, Southeast
ern Nebraska versus Outstate and
the Agricultural College versus
"Choppy" Rhodes' coaching clut3.
Three of these teams have been
selected to represent different por
tions of the state.
Each squad has twenty men and
it Is planned to play a round-robin
schedule. Any team may chal
lenge the team Immediately above
it In the standing. The Agricul
tural upperclassmen are not In the
league but will play one team In
the league each week. The fresh'
men at the College of Agriculture
will organize a team which will be
in the league.
Each Team Playa
I' Is planned to permit each
team In the league to play the
freshman squad, and If any men
show well in the lntra-niural games
l hey v. ill be promoted to the fresh
man team. Some of the Intra
mural teams may have a chance
to scrimmage against the Varsity
later In. the year.
Each team will use a different
syslem of play. The Rockne,
Xuppke, Jones and Warner sys
tems will be tried out
Freshman numerals will be
given to all men who play In the
league gamea for the entire season.
In nddition, they will be admitted
to all varsity grimes free. In these j
games men will have a better
chance to show up well than If
they were all on the freshman
team. The squads are organized
and working on plays now, but It
Is not too late for additional ma
terial. More teams will be organ
ized If enough material appears.
The team coaches are as fol
lows; H. B. "Jess" Wtllard. Lin
coln and Omaha; Victor Beck,
Southeast; Mel Collins, Western;
Ralph Andrews, Agricultural Col
lege freshmen; "Choppy" Rhodes,
coaching; class, and Wilbur Knight,
Agricultural College,
Officials will be wanted for
ihese games. Any student wishing
to officiate may sign up at the
athletic office. Officials will be
paid J1.50 per game.

and Miss Alabel Harris, librarian of
Teachers' College, attended the
33rd annual meeting of the Ne
braska Library association at North
Plutte, October 4 and 6. Miss Har
ris la secretarv and treasurer nf th
association. Mr. Malcolm O. Wyer,
formerly librarian at the Univer
sity of Nebraska, and now at the
Denver. Colo., public library, spoke
on "Ethics of Librarianship."
