University Professor Will
Give Talk at Fremont
This Morning
The 1928 session of the I lodge
County City and Rural Teachers'
Institute will convene In the high
school buildings at Fremont, Ne
braska, Friday morning, October 6.
at 8:30 o'clock. The Institute will
continue in session two days, and
all persons teaching In Dodge
county, or who expect to teach 1 his
year, are expected to be present.
I'r. H. C. Koch, of the University
of Nebraska Teachers college, will
substitute for President tiage, who
will be unable to attend the ses
sion. Or. Kock speaks Friday on
"The Deficiencies of High School
Graduates As Shown by Their
Karly Work in College."
Dr. V. H. Morton, principal of
the Teachers college high school,
will also take part In this session,
speaking on the problems of the
teachers In the high schools,
grades, and rural schools.

NEW YELL INTRODUCED

More than BOO students of the
University of Nebraska met in
front of the Social Sciences build
ing yesterday afternoon to stage
the first football rally of the year.
The rally was held an a send-off for
the Husker football squad, which
left at midnight last night for
Ames.
The university band started off
the rally with school songs, with
the entire crowd singing. Charles
Dox, varsity cheerleader, led the
yells, and Introduced several new
cheers. Following the band. Corn Cobs,
and Tassels, the students paraded
to the Stadium where the squad
was going thru a light workout.
Cheers were given for Coach
Frnest TS. Bearg. "niue" How c" and
Elmer Holm, co-captains of the
team, and for every member of the
squad making the trip.

mile cross-country course north of
the campus Thursday afternoon,
Robert Spraguo led a field of twenty-one
men to the tape In the com
paratively fast time of 15 minutes,

charge of the race and declared he
was satisfied with the results, fol
lowing the event.
According to Couch Schulie the
race was held to "feel out" the
most outstanding material for the
varsity Coinhusker cross country
