Dingman, Delta Sigma Phi won the decision over Huren, Tau Kappa Epsilon. The match was rather even ly contested for the first two rounds, but Dingman's right hooks to the body won for him in the final round. The second round matches of the tournament will be held this after noon and evening. Contestants are requested to appear on time or their bout will be forfeited. An admission of 25 cents will be charged to hold ers of student athletic tickets, and 50 cents to all others. The proceeds of these final matches will be used to defray the expenses of sending a team to the Mid-Western A. A. U. Olympic tryouts, which will be held in Omaha on April 16 and 17. Following the completion of the tournament now in progress, an all university tournament will be held. This one will be open to all under graduates, both non-fraternity and fraternity men. A game with Army would be boost not only for Nebraska but tla Big Six and this part of the country yet "Phog" Allen and the athletic board at Kansas could not see it in that light. o Jama Channon, Mussonri guard and center hat been impended from school on account of scholarship and leaves the Tiger quintet with a guard position to fill. Channon did not play with tha Edwards five against Oklahoma last week and will bo ineligible to play basket ball next year as ha was a senior this year and has had two years of competi tion. 0 Oklahoma university will add an other wing to its stadium which will give a seating capacity to the stad ium of 32,000. The new wing will seat a crowd of 16,000 at football games and will be finished late in the fall of this year. The Wichita university baskeiball team of Wichita, Kansas, inaugrated a new mode in transportation of bas ketball teams when the Kansas squad left for Hays, Kansas, in airplanes. The 200 mile trip was made in two hours fllying time which was a sav ing of four days travel by train. Five planes carried the basketeers to Hays. o Kansas university will have an all Kansas coaching staff next year. Coach Bill Hargiss is of Kansas, Bunn is of Kansas and a university graduate, Hinshaw is also of Kan sas. The football rules committee got into private session Monday and changed some of the rates for 1928. The muffed punt and lateral pass were ttie two items in the pig&kin game1 that were affected. In a nut shell they removed a good share of the protection afforded the lateral pass, to do away with the confusing distinction between a muffed or fumbled punt and dealed a blow to tthe use of the so-called "screen pass." Gish, athletic director, has scheduled two indoor meets so far this season for the Corn husker track team. The team will participate in its first com petition of the year at the Kansas City Athletic Club meet to be held in Kansas-City, Mo., February 18. Tha champions of the Nebraska College Conference will meet the Nebraska team February 25 in Lincoln for the second meet of the season. 8CHDLTE CHANGES TRI-COLOR MEETS New Regulations Will. Secure Better Competition; Three Series Are to Be Held Several changes in the tri-color or mercury, f oat track t meets for this season, in order to obtain the best competition, were announced by Coach Henry F. Schulto, Tuesday. Track men who have secured three or more points on the numeral roll by performances in the various ei vents will be classified as juniors. A junior who passes the record in the 6-point class may join a senior team if he chooses, but upon scoring in the ,11-point column he is re quired to enter the senior competi tion. The tri-color meets will start promptly at 4 o'clock this year and the junior events will precede the senior. The junior scoring will be on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis according to places, while the senior scoring will be rated at 7-6-5-4-3. Winners Will Be Given Banquet The first four mfets will be run for a "feed" to be given for the winners by the second and third place teams. All tricolor men will attend the" banquet, after which the teams will be rebalanced for com petition in four more meets followed by another banquet. A third series consisting of two meets will also be held. The first tri-color meet will be held Thursday, February 9. The other three meets of the series will be held Monday, February 13; Tues day, February 21; and Monday, Feb ruary 27. The rebalanced teams will meet in the second series of meets, March 6, 12, 20, and 26? The third series of meets are or the pro gram for April 3 and 16. On either May 8 or 14 a big "double scoring" meet will be staged. In addition to the tri-color meets Coach Schulte has same other in teresting cinder events on his spring program., Thei outdoor interfrater nity meet will be put on April 24. The R. O. T. C. intercompany teams will meet on the stadium track and field April 30, and the Missouri Valley Conference freshmen tele graphic meet will be held either May 8 or 14. SOONER AGS flAHE STELLAR MAT MAN Captain of Oklahoma A. & M. Mat Team Has Perfect Record in Valley Bouts Stillwater, Okla. Febrauary 7. When George Rule, captain of the Oklahoma A. and M. college wrestl ing team, steps out on the mat with an opposing grappler every Aggies fan is morally certain that he will win his match. For in three years of intercolle giate wrestling, Rule hus never lost a varsity match. At present he holds the Missouri Valley and nation al titles in the 175 pound weight. Consistent, steady and dependable, Rule seldom take chances, being con tent to win by a decision rather than risk trying for a fall. He is es pecially strong on arm lock holds and he is unusually fast for a man of his weight. Rule suffered the biggest disap pointment of his wrestling career when an attack of boils prevented him from competing in the Iowa State meet last month. As it was, Ames won the 175 pound weight and went into the lead until McCready, the heavyweight, won the next match. Rude will have another op portunity to meet an Iowa State man in the Missouri Valley tournament and in the tryouts for the Olympic! team. Rule's heme is at Orlando. He is a senior in the School of Agriculture. CYCLONES ENTER MEET Five lowans Go Into Mid-West A. A. U. Meet This Week Ames, Iowa, Feb. 7. (Special) Five members of this year's Iowa State swimming team, and one mem ber of the team of two years ago have been entered in the Mid-west A. A. U. swimming meet to be held in the State University pool at Iowa City Friday and Saturday. The Cyclones will enter the fancy diving events, the 440 and 220-yard free style, 'and a 800-yard medley relay. Marion Sehultz, all-american fancy diver, and a member of the 1926 team, has also entered the A. A. U. meet. A. Sl U. HAS HEW TRACK AND COURTS Quarter Mil Cinder Track and Two Concrete Tennis Courts Are Provided at Oklahoma Stillwater, Okla., Feb. 7. (Spe cial) A new quarter mile cinder track and two more concrete tennis courts will be available for use at the Oklahoma A. and M. college this spring, E. C. Gallagher, director of athletics, has announced. The track, which will have a top layer of six or seven inches of cin ders, is now under construction and Mr. Gallagher predicts it will be in tip top shape by the time Interscho lastic rolls around. As the track will have a 220 yard straightway and will be 29 feet wide on the south side and 21 feet wide on the curves and north side, it will be one of the best) in the Missouri Valley conference. Upon the completion of the two new courts a total of three concrete tennis courts will be used by Okla homa high school athletes who com pete in the tennis tournament during Interscholastic These courts will be of regulation size and the contract specifies that only the best cf mate ria lis to be used. Mr. Gallagher expects both the track and tennis courts will be com pleted by March 1. SOONERS COMPETE KANSAS MEET Valley Champions Prepare for K, C A. C Indoor Contest On February 18 Norman, Okla., Feb. 6. (Spe cial) Coach John Jacob's Univer sity of Oklahoma track team, which holds the Missouri Valley champion ship, are training in the university's new field house for the K. C A. C. indoor meet to bei held in Kansas City, Mo., February 18. This is the first Sooner track team that has been trained on an indoor track. Last year the Sooners won the Missouri Valley indoor meet with only the oval cinder of the outdoor track as a practice field. Prospects this season for a similar victory in the Valley meet at Des Moines, Ia March 9 and 10 as well as the Kansas City meet loom bright with the return of all letternien and the addition of an equal number of sophomores and squad men, who seem capable of making points in this season's meets. Captain Ben Taylor heads the) list of returning lettermen. The others are John Hewit, Harold Keith, Rus sell Carson, Leslie Niblack, Arthur Sherman, Maurice Stalker, Heston Heald, Bruce Drake, Dillon Ander son, and Raymond Dunson, star hur dler.
