All Women in Physical Education
Department Must Have Examination
All students taking work in the De
partment of Physical Education for
Women are required to take physical
examinations, whether they are
freshmen, sophomore, junior or sen
ior girls.' All women asking for re
prieves are also required to take an
examination. Frequently, girls who
have previously taken an examination
do not realize that it is necessary for
them to be examined, but no students
tnkinv work in the department are
exempt
A medical examination is required
of all newly entering students and of
all asking for reprieves for physical
disability, unless they bring a written
statement from their family physi
cian. All women who have not yet
made appointments for their exam
inations re urged to do so immed
iately. Since the installation of special
classes in corrective and individual
gymnastics very few reprieves are
granted. Those who are physically
able to carry regular work in the
university are, in general, considered
able to take a type of worK iuiea 10
their particular condition. Reprieves
are granted to students over 25 years

to make up. No reprieves are granted
in other cases except under very rare
circumstances.

offer special and corrective work

STILLWATER, Okla., Sept 16.
(Special) A large number of expe
rienced players, a veteran coaching
staff and improved equipment are
some of the factors that make pros
pects for a winning football team at
the Oklahoma A. and M. college ex-
tremey rosy.
Steel is now being erected for the
new concrete stadium that is being
built on the south side of Lewis ath
letic field and construction on a new
cinder track will start after the foot
ball season is over.
While the coaches refuse to pre
dict that the Aggies will win another
Missouri Valley championship, a sur
vey of the available material shows
there will be a letter man for every
position on the team. The line will
be sepecially well fortified in experi
enced men.
One difficulty that faces the
coaches is the development of a
kicker. Peery, who did the punting,
and Strack, who dropped back from
the line to drop kick, have both been
graduated, and a new man will have
to be found who can do the booting.

EXTENDED TOUR
Track Mentor Attend State Offi
cial' Conference At
Various Point
Henry F. Schulte, track mentor of
the university, is now on an extended
tour throughout the state attending
officials conferences in the various
towns and cities. He will return
about September 29.

These officials' meetings are held
each year in order to interpret the
rules of the various sports, mainly
footbalL The meetings in each
town will consist of coaches, players,
and any others who may be interested
in seeing sports on a higher plane.
The aim of the meetings is to in
struct officials, since good officiat
ing makes good games.
Coa..i Schulte attended the Mis
souri Valley Conference interpreta
tion meeting in Kansas City last
week, and from there he started on
his itinerary.
Among the towns included by
Coach Schulte are Omaha, Lincoln,
Grand Island, CVumbus, North
Platte, Scottsbluff, jSorfolk, Ains
worth, Chadron, McCook, Hastings,
Fairbury, and Falls City.
NEW RESEARCH BOOKS OUT
Publications of University Extension
Division Attract Wide Interest
Two new research books recently
publhed by the extension division
of the University of Nebraska have
attracted widespread attention to the
activities of the College of Business
Administration. One is on the in
fluence of automobiles and good
roads on retail trade centers and the
other on special sales in retail merchandising.
The former was compiled by the
comniiUe on Dusiiiesa research of
the College of Business Administra
tion,, while the latter is the work of
Ewald T. Grether, Ph. D. Prof.
Ewald, who was formerly an assistant
professor of advertising and sales
management at the university is now
assistant professor of economics at
the University of California.
The pamphlet on retail merchan
dising is the outgrowth of an investi
gation made by members of the class
in market analysis in the university
here. Retail stores in Omaha and
Lincoln were studied and students
working under careful instructions
were assigned to each class of stores.
The book on automobiles and good
roads deals with the problem of the
retailer as it is affected by travel
and, with the influence of automo
biles and good roads on business.
Vernon G. Morrison, a graduate
scholar in the college of business
administration and now an assistant
professor in the Bizad school made
the study from which the bulletin was
prepared.
Tooth of Mastadon
Received By Museum
The university museum has re
ceived a large mastodon tooth from
William Graham of the Lyman
Richey Sand Company at Meadow,
Nebraska. Mr. Graham found the
tooth September 6 while working
about 50 feet below the surface in a
gravel pit near Meadow. He turned
it over to State Gravel Inspector
Fir.ity for delivery to the museum.
Geography Assistants
Teach During Summer
Miss Phyllis Rice, assistant in the
geography department, taught during
the summer at Miami university, Os
ford, 0., and after a visit to Ashe
ville, N. C, returned to her home at
Nebraska City before continuing her
work at the university. Melvina
Walters, another assistant in the
geography, taught at the university
of Arkansas at Fayettsville tiuring
the summer session.
