ATHLETICS FOR ALL
A complete program of winter
sports has been announced by the
athletic department with extensive
plans for intra-mnral athletics. This
is made possible by the completion
f f ne University Coliseum which is
one of the finest buildings of its
kind in the country.
This announcement is a most wel
come one and if the plans are car
ried out properly the University will
be greatly benefitted. The decree in
which the University is benefitted
will be commensurate with the num
ber of students who engage in the
sports.
It is a recognized fact that physi
cal exercise is beneficial to everyone;
the lack of athletics for ths entire
student body has long been a crying
need of this institution. Buc now
that the Coliseum is completed with
its wonderful facilities fr all sorts
of sports and the Armory completely
turned over to the women, there is
no reason why Nebraska should not
have athletics for all.
The early announcements both by j
the men's and women's athletic de
partments indicate the desire on the
part of both departments to make
good use of what they now have to
work with.
The University of Nebraska has
attained a nationwide reputation for
the excellence of its athletic teams.
This has unquestionably done much
for the institution and will continue
to do so in the future But these
teams, no matter how ?"Md they may
be, benefit only a comparatively few
of the students.

back seat to any of them.
Every student will now have an
opportunity to engage in some sport
and get tlje exercise which he should
have. Since we have no physical edu
cation requirement for men it re
mains for the athletic department to
make the intra-mural sports attrac
