Tau Kappa Epsilon
Thursday's intcrfrrternity basket
hall flumes showed some food teams
in action. In the first came, rni
Sterna Kappa outplayed the Sigma
Chi outfit. Theta Chi .v,sed out
Zeta Beta Tau. The Thi Kappa Tsi
quintet walked on the Acacia hoop
sters in the final game. The Thi
Phi Sigma Kappa and Thi Kappa Psi
teams seemed to be exceptionally
strong.
In the 4 o'clock game, the Thi Sig
ma Kappa team started out well by
rolling in two field goals and two free
throws. Both teams were playing
a good passing game. They were
trying quite a few long shots and
coming close. Grace flipped in a
field goal and King followed with
another. McCloud helped the Sig
Chis witha long throw, but that was

evened up by the opposing learn net
ting another field goal. Excitement
stopped the grime when Farrow and
King had a hand-to-hand argument
They were both rut out of the game
After that, both teams started pass
ing wildly, neither was able to keep
the ball after they intercepted it
Grace sidestepped to make a shot
and shortly after slipped by the
guards for another field goal, bring
ing the total for Phi Sigma Kappa up
to fourteen. The half ended with
out further scoring, the Sigma Chi
five having registered four.
With the second half, the Sig
Chis started fighting, getting a lot
of chances at the ring, but could not
hit it. Finally, McCloud made a pass
to Poppe, who slipped the ball
through. Burkhart missed two gift
tosses, but made up for them with
a field goal. The Phi Sigma Kappa
team picked up. Grace flipped in
one and Carrothers followed suit
with a medium. The game was in
terrupted again. This time Grace
and McCloud were having an argu
ment. They were taken from the
floor. Both the teams missed the
free throws awarded for this. The
scoring kept on till the end, bringing
the score to Phi Sigma Kappa, 22;
Sigma Chi, 14. Both of these exhi
bited some good floor work and
basket throwing, and the game was
probably as interesting as any yet
played.
Close Contest
The Theta Chi-Zeta Beta Tau tus
sle was pretty closely contested until
the last few minutes. No much scor
ing was done, and not many attempts
made. Iseman, opened the fireworks
with a throw from the sideline. His
team was getting most of the shots.
They missed two free throws. Bar
ber missed on a neat try. Iseman
repeated with another field goal.
Barber made two points for Theta
Chi. The half ended 4 to 8 for ZM
Beta Tau. The last half opened
advantageously for tie Theta Chi
warriors. Gugenheim fouled and
Barber made the resulting gift toss.
Benson added two more with a long
shot. Theta Chi was improving. Hel
ler gave Barber a basket, by a poor
pass. The game got rougher, the
teams running up and down the
floor, without results. Near the fin
ihs, Ravitz tried to stage a rally,
counting three points, Zeta Beta
Tau's total for the last half.
Phi Psit Win
In the last game of the afternoon,
the Phi Kappa Tsi crew easily elimi
nated the Acacians. Holm, Phi Psi,
started the scoring. Shepard added
two more counters by breaking
through the guards for a short one.
Holm found a clear field down the
floor for another. The Acacians
were unable to stop their opponents
effectively. Reeves made a gift toss.
The Acacians then garnered three
points, Hamilton making a free
throw, and weir tossing in a long!
shot. Ihe whole first period was
easily Phi Psi. Nelson made a short
shot and Zust a long one. The half
ended 14 to 4 in favor of Phi Kappa
Psi.
In the second, the Phi Psi outfit
started out scoring. Nelson pushed
in a short shot. Holm dribbled
through the Acacia defense for an
other. Reeves put in a pretty one
from near the center, all of these
points counting for Phi Kappa Psi.
Auhl had hard luck on a pretty try.
The Phi Psis missed about four in
a row. They had no trouble in get
ting the ball within striking distance,
but could not always connect. Weir
made Acacia's only coints of the
last part, with a long flip. Shepard,
started on a rampage, making three
field goals during the last few min
utes of play.
