DentiBtry, which has shown a loss in previous years owing to changes in the curriAilum, now shows a nor mal increase. Engineering shows an Increase of about eight per cent. This reflecU the demand by the country for engi neers for public works, roads, and ynrlnna industrial enterprises. In the graduate College there is an increase showing that more of the people of the state are finding time and inclination to pursue studies for advanced degrees. The Law College shows a Blight in crease, notwithstanding that its pol icy has been to discourage excessive numbers and constantly improve quality. In the College of Pharmacy there :hns been a decrease in the freshman class because the two-year course has been abandoned. At the tome time, the numbers in the second, third, and fourth year classes are larger; so that, while the number remains con stant, the students are of higher quality. Teacher's Has Largest Increase. The Teachers College has an in crease of 197 students. This is the largest increase in any of the Col leges and shows that the tendency of those desiring to teach to register in a professional college for teachers is still operating. A recent act of the legislature simplifying the certi fication laws facilitated the obtaining of licenses to teach by students in colleges other than Teachers College. This law properly required certain work in the Teachers College but did not require for state certificates reg istration in the college. The Uni versity officials were somewhat in doubt as to how this would affect registration; but it would seem that the majority of students who expecf to teach desire state teachers' certi ficates issued from the University rather than a certificate from the office of the state superintendent. In none of these schools or col leges has there been any special ef fort made to increase registration. For a good many years the increase in students has been, in view of rising prices, in excess of available support. The University has been more desir ous of improving the quality of stu dents than increasing the numbers. The Medical College shows a de crease of approximately sixty stu dents. This college has a course cov ering six year above the high school and last spring it graduated a very large class of those who came in im mediately after the war. Last year registration was considerably larger than the plant was designed to acom- odate. A number of poorer student' were weeded out during the year and only the better students applying for admission were received. The col lege still has a higher registration than any medical colleges having t much greater physical plant. Mon. Tues. Wed. fa A- i HDKVIIXK -T7..IION W IN CAIMAW ir2wMER EVERYBODY cots- Mon. Tues.
