MAT CONTEST
At Least Five Full Teams Will
Come Here for Valley
Wrestling Meet.
SLIM PROSPECTS FOR
NEBRASKA SAYS COACH
At least five full teams and several
part teams are expected to ei.tcr the
Missouri Valley intercollegiate wrest
ling meet for the Valley team and in
dividual championships, which will be
held in Lincoln, March IS and 14.
The meet, which was won by Ne
braska last year, will be held on the
Armory floor, sharing the space with
the state high school basketball tour
nament. Preliminary matches will
be Friday afternoon, semi-finals Fri
day evening, and finals Saturday af
ternoon. Lxtra matches, sucn as
first round byes, will probably be
held Saturday morning.
Entries for the meet were expect
ed to be mailed by yesterday. That
was the deadline set for replies to in
vitations. Kansas and Ames had al
ready communicated with Dr. R. G
Clapp, wrestling coach, and both
have signified their intention of en
tering full teams.
The Oklahoma Aggies and Missou
ri will also probably enter full squads
and almost every other Valley team
will enter some men, it is believed
Each team may enter two men in
each event.
A new weight class has been added
to this year's competition the 108
pound division. It will be the first
time that Nebraska has wrestled in
that class. Blore may come down to
that weight or Jones, steady work
er in tryouts, may be the represen
tative.
Scoring will be carried on the fol
lowing schedule:
Final first place by fall, eight
points; by decision, five points.
Final second place, by fall, three
points; by decision, two points.
Final third place, by fall, . two
points; by decision, one point.
Gold, silver, and bronze medals
will be awarded the winners of first,
second, and third places in the finals
of each class. A team trophy cup
will be awarded the ictorious team.
"Prospects for a victory for Ne
braska are down," stated Dr. Clapp
yesterday. "Nebraska won the trophy
last year, but the injuries and ineli
gibilities on the squad have cut it
down nntil there is little hope for a
victory."
The Huskers have met defeat at
the hands of Kansas and Ames, both
of whom will enter teams in the tour
ney. Nebraska grapplers will meet
Northwestern University wrestlers
here Saturday night, Coach R. D.
Clapp has announced. Injuries will
keep Captain Dale Skinner and
Mincer out of the 145-pound and
125-pound classes respectively.
Skinner is suffering from a broken
rib recieved in the Minnesota
Husker match last Saturday and Min
cer has a bad leg.
Cecil Molzen will get into the
heavyweight class. This will be the
first match for the big football play
er. Blore will enter the 115-pound
class. Hudson will enter the 125
pound match and Luff may enter the
135-pound instead of McKiskey.
Either Brannigan or Richardson will
enter the 145-pound division and
Lundy probably in the 158-pound.
High will be the 175-pound man for
Nebraska.

Husker Mermen Will Meet
Iowa Team in Second
Meet of Year.
University of Nebraska swimmers
will meet the Iowa State College
swimming team in the Omaha Ath
letic club tank Friday night. The
Husker team which defeated the
Kansas Aggies in the first mec't of
the season at Manhattan, is headed
by Captain N. C Plate of Omaha who
holds the midwest A. A. U. record
for the 100-yard breast stroke. Cap
tain Plate was a member of last
year's Husker team and in the meet
at Omaha this year will be in the re-
lav, breast stroke and plunge.
Other members of the relay w
be Kirkbride. Laughlin and Hunton
B. Laughlin is a new member of the
t-oam. He was life iruard at the
Chevenne swimming pool last sum
mer. In addition to the relay, he
will also enter the breast stroke an
50-vard free style. Kirkbride, wh
was a member of the 1924 team, will
enter the 220-yard free style in addi
tion to the relays.
F, Hunton was a member of the
1923 and 1924 team and will do the
50-yard and 100-yard free style in
addition to the relays. Ilgen, who
comes from the canal zone, will en
ter the dive and back stroke. Glen
Buck is a new member of the team.

OF YALLEY TITLE
Jayhawks Get Title When
Kansas Aggies Defeat
Washington.
Nebraska cagers went into second
place in the Missouri Valley confer
ence when they defeated Grinnell,
Tuesday night, 86 to 21, and Wash
ington met defeat at the hands of the
Kansas Aggies at St. Louis, 87 to 26.
Nebraska and Washington have each
lost three games ut the Huskers
have played one more game than the
Pikers. The result of last night s
contests gives Kansas the undisputed
title to the Missouri Valley champi
onship as the Jayhawkers have lost
but one game and will finish their
schedule with Washington at Lawr
ence, March 9. If Kansas should lose
this game they would still be ahead.
