If all the world's a stage and we
are the players, strutting up and
down the colored scene, mouthing
speeches with silly seriousness and
bombast, it would pay well to turn
away from the spotlight where all ate
pushing and shouting for recognition
and look to the dark circle of the
backstage where actors obscure in
twilight are working out their destin
ies.
Minnesota has them: these people
of the backstage, these workers in the
twilight In the succession of cli
maxes that work out thrilling com
edy of life, they let others, possessed
of driving natures and intruding per
sonalties, take the place in the sur,
and are relegated themselves to the
dim zone of the unnoticed, and their
work so quietly done is unheeded. In
moments of tenseness when the chief
actors feel the glory of their major
roles they turn puffed up by egotism
to those in obscurity and consider
them kindred in dust
But what collossal stupidity to ov
erlook the great works that the spot
light misses. To forget the heroic
struggles with poverty that take
place all around us. To pass by the
tenacious fights with Dhvsical short
comings and defects in native equip
ment To be unimpressed by strong
character and devotional to family
and friends.
Though noisy actors overwhelm
the chorus of good works, we can't
help knowing the worth of these
deeds done quietly. If we have right
values for things, we will give them
tangible appreciation of their worth!

Appear in Program
An unusual Christmas convocation
will be held Friday morning at 10
o'clock at the Lincoln high 'school,
when excerpts from the "Messiah"
will be given. The soloists are all
ex-Lincoln high school people, and
the chorus work will be sung by Lin
coln high school students. The whole
affair will be under the direction of
H. 0. Ferguson. The Lincoln high
school orchestra will accompany.
The soloists will be Bernice Bays,
soprano; Marie Movius-Becker, con
tralto; Francis Diers, tenor; Harold
Robinson, bass.
