Will Erect Mammoth Stadium at
University of Chicago in Spring
A new stadium, seating: from
60,000 to 70,000, twice the capacity
of the present football structure will
be built next year by the University
of Chicago. Work on the new struc
ture will begin next spring and will
be completed enough to accommodute
60,000 next fall.
A new field house for indoor sports
and basketball crames will also be
built The old "BarUett Gym" . is
inadequate for the growing school.
The new gym will cause an increased
attendance at indoor games.
The financing of the projects will
be done entirely from the university
athletic fund. The plan docs not
call for a cent from alumni or others.
This is an innovation, many similar
structures built having depended up
on outside sources for their finances.
The stadium is to be a U-shaped
structure, double decked on one side,
rart of the old stadium will be incor-
norated in the new. The football
field will be in the middle and a track
around it for outside track meets.

Wilfred's Clavilux and Its t( Color
Music" Attracts Interest of Many
The Clavilux, the first instrument
to make possible the use of light as
a fine art, which Thomas Wilfred,
its inventor, will present at the City
Auditorium on Tuesday, December
16, under the auspices of the Ameri
can Legion, is attracting the interest
of many Lincoln people.
C. J. Frankforter, assistant pro
fessor of chemistry in the University
has made the following statement:
"After a careful study of the de
scriptive literature and a considera
tion of the subject of light from the
scientific standpoint, I would say
that the Clavilux program is certain
to be one of the most interesting
entertainments ever offered in this
city.
"This program cannot but prove
instructive, interesting, and most
enjoyablo to everyone interested in
science, music, or art, whether or not
they are special students of these
subjects.
"I am personally interested from i
two points of view that of having
some knowledge of music and that of
the sometime student of science. I
have talked with one who has wit
nessed a Clavilux program and this
individual was astonished, delighted,
and somewhat awed by the marvel
ous, controlled presentation of "color
music." I most cetrainly will not miss
the local presentation of Mr. Wil
fred's wonderful Clavilux.

Twenty Years Ago
Highland Park defeated Nebraska
in the opening game of the basket
ball season by a score of 38 to 33.
The short passes of the visitors were
much more effective than the long
passes of the Cornhuskers. Fouls
were frequent occurance throughout
Jhe entire game.
In an exchange telling of the trip
to be taken by the Yale football team
during the holidays, which was term
ed "extensive," it was added that
' the team would go as far as New
Orleans. The first class caps of the year
made their appearance on the cam
pus when the sophomores appeared
wearing distinctive headgear.
Comment was made that "the
showers in the men's gymnasium are
giving a great deal of treuble, due
to the unequal distribution of the
hot and cold water."
Over one hundred guests were
present at "one of the most success-
