Yost Has Coached Many Ail-Americans Fielding H. Yost, familiarly known as "Hurry-Up" Yost because of his tremendous pep and his use of it in speeding up his players, has been a leading football coach for twenty seven years. Prior to this he was a tackle on the Lafayette eleven one year and on the University of West Virttlnla eleven three years. He was graduated from the latter school in June, 1897. That autumn he was head coach of Ohio Wesleyan. In 1898 he coached Nebraska, in 1899 Kansas, In 1900 Stanford, and then in 1901 came the engagement that was to bring him uermanent fame. He joined the Uni versity of Michigan, where his enor mous success has not only confirmed hie nnsiHnn as head football coach r ... - but made him director oi intercollegi ate athletics, director of the summer school for coaches and director of the four years course in physical educa tion. In the twenty-three years Yost has been at Michigan (not including the season of 1924,) his teams have won fifty-four games and lost but nine while In competition with elevens of the Big Ten, or Western Conference. Three games were tied. In these con tests Michigan scored 1,171 points to their opponents' 239. Yost has developed twelve Michi gan men for Walter Camp's Ail American teams, almost as many as Camp has placed from the western rivals of Michigan combined.
