Teachers College Issues New Study The department of technique of ers College has issued Number 4 of instruction in English in the Teach iU studies lesson plans on "The Merchant of Venice." These studies are published monthly, through the Extension Division, from September to June inclusive. Lesson plans on "Silas Marner" and on "The Lady of the Lake" and a course of study in English are Numbers, 1, 2, and 3, Copies are sold by the University Ex tension Division, of which Prof. A. A. Reed is director. Indian Missionary Revisits Nebraska Carrie E. Hesseltine, '11, who is member of the American Baptist Field Missionary Service and has been in Burma, British India, for over six years as missionary, is on a leave of absence for a year. Samuels Cloth Shop Quality Service Reliability Uth and O St. Radio-correspondence Course in Business English to Be Offered An innovation In education-exten sion service by the University of Ne braska is the Extension Division's combination radio-correspondence course in business English to be giv en for University credit by Prof. Maurice Weseen of the College of Business Administration. Professor Weseen is to broadcast his regular class lectures every Thursday, start ing the first week in December, about 7 o clock, from the University radio station, WFAV. Persons who wish to take the course for credit will rear- ister through the Extension Division and wm receive announcements, as signments, and examinations through the mail, Prof. A. A. Reed, director of the division, states. W hile the radio is used at Colum bia University in connection with correspondence courses for credit and at Chicago University for cours es without credit, its use in this im mediate territory is a new thing. The course in business Enelish consists of a study of words, includ ing spelling, pronunciation, and use; exercises in the construction of cor rect and effective sentences; lessons in practical punctuation; and prac tice in paragraph development all in conection with their use in busi ness letters. Various types of let ters considered will include collec tion, adjustment, sales, complaint, credit, application, recommendation and reference. Three lessons are given on sales letters methods of conviction and persuasion and of handling special cases. UNIVERSITY OP OKLAHOMA Basil R. Otey, who holds, as acknowl edged by. the National Rifle associa tion, more medals for rifle marks manship than any other one man in the United States, is a freshman in the school of geology.
