GOLFERS TUNING UP FOR TEAM TRYOUTS Aspire to Take Part in Valley Tournament at Time of Track Meet. Nebraska golfers can be seen most any time these days walking the gr?ens around Lincoln, tuning up for the varsity team which goes into ac tion next month in the Missouri Val ley golf tournament at Lincoln at the time of the alley track meet, and against Creighton university on the second lap for tha cup donated by Creighton last year. The Husker team won the first lap toward pos session of the cup at Omaha last year. Tryouts for the team will be held soon. The Nebraska team will also probably enter in the state golf tour nament which will be held at the Lincoln country club the second week in June, and the university boys ar-2 expected to make it interesting for the veterans who will compete in the annual state classic. Two letter men back from the four-man team of last year are Bob Hinkleman and Jack Whitten, both of whom will probably make the team again this year. Some good pros pects from last years freshmen in clude Allan Holmes and Fred Vette. Additional first class players will more than likely be uncovered in the tryouts. Drake university is the golf cham pion of the Valley at present, hav ing won the last two Vall-ey meets, and the Big Ten meet two years ago. Nebraska was second last year and Kansas third. Missouri valley and Rocky Mountain states will meet there to discuss world, campus and personal prob lems. Sherwood Eddy, J. Stitt Wilson, Governor Sweet of Colorado, Dr. E. C. Lindeman and David R. Porter of New York will Bpeak on current problems and lead discussion groups. Mountain climbing, organized hikes, trout fishing, tennis and baseball will make up recreational features of the ten-day period. Nebraska - expects to send about fifteen men.
