Titles at Mid-Western

or the eight first places in the mid
western amateur Olympic trvouts at
the Omaha Athletic club Tuesday
night. Dorsey Mclntyre won in the
middleweight class, while Homer
facott was master of the heavy
weights. Both won by decisions.
Four college men. three Omaha
Athletic club boxers and one unat
tached man won in the eight classes.
Besides the two Nebraska victories.
Iowa State college and Parson's col
lege each placed a man on the squad
that is to try out in the semi-final
Olympic tryouts to be held in. Kan
sas City, Mo., April 19 and 20.
Forty-five Entries.
There were forty-five entries in
the meet, thirty-two of whom were
fighting under the O. A. C. colors.
Mclntyre, weighing 158 pounds, won
his decision over George Barna, O.
A. C. Homer Scott. tippine the
scales at 185 pounds, won his deci
sion from Paul Elias, Columbus, Neb.

The Cornhusker baseball squad
broke even on its two-game series
with the University of Missouri on
Monday and Tuesday. The first
game gave the Huskers a 4 to 2 vic
tory and the second a 4 to 2 defeat
The two Missouri runs in the first
game were brought in by a homerun
hit. Petersen pitched the winning
game.
The team played Missouri Univer
sity yesterday and will arrive home
this morning. Out of the eleven
games scheduled for their southern
trip, they won three and lost four.
Three games were not played be
cause of rain.
New York Eleven members of the
faculty and fifty-three members of
the student body were elected to
Sigma Xi, the honorary scientific fra
ternity at Columbia.
California The first intersection
al football game ever to be held in
the California memorial stadium will
be played between the University of
California and the University of
Pennsylvania January 1, 1925.
KANSAS A new course to be
termed chemical engineering will be
included in the Kansas State Agricul
tural College curricula after the
present year.
