Distance Plunging Heartbreaker .. The distance plunging event is a heartbreaker, and requires men with a lot of lung power. Bill Abbot and Kenneth Martin are training hard for this part of the program. Coach Frank Adkins thinks there are still some more men about the campus who would make good ma terial for the team, and he urges all fellows with any swimming ability at all to come to the practice sessions At the Y, and take a fling at it with the others. One of the men on the team last year strolled around to practice in this fashion and became the best man on the squad. Adkins wants a lot of competition in each event to bring out the best in each man. A few of the swimmers may go to the Midwestern A. A. U. meet sched uled for January 10, at Iowa City, Iowa. Another A. A. U. tank meet will be staged at Omaha on January 25, and several of the swimmers have signified their intention of going. Acting director of athletics, Henry F. Schulte, who is out of the city at present, will have an announcement to make in regard to dual meets for the swimmers when he returns Saturday.
