Last Sunday every pew and available
chair was occupied both morning and eve
ning. We especially want students to hear
this outstanding man and advise them to
come early.
Student girls will meet Miss Appleby
at 13th and L at 9:45 and the usual class
at 17th and A will meet at 12. Student men
at 17th and A at both hours.
The three Endeavor societies will unite
at 13th and L at 5:30 for social hour and
light eats and at 6:30 for their meeting and
a brief talk from Doctor Davis.
Through the union of these two churches
Congregationalism hopes to put on such a
program for students as never before, and to
secure ample equipment for this purpose. This
is a great forward movement.

TRACK TEAM LOSES
MEN BY GRADUATION
Seven Members of 1923 Cinder
Squad Must Be Replaced
by Coach Schulte
The prospects for the 1924 track
season are only fair. Seven letter
men were lost by graduation, leaving
the Huskers handicapped in the
dashes, middle distance runs, and
field events. Coach Henry F. Schulte
made the statement that with better
facilities due to the new stadium and
running track, he expected over five
hundred this winter and spring.
Nebraska's winning of the Missouri
Valley championship for the past
three years, means a greater determ
ination on the' part of the other
valley schools, so Coach Schulte's
cinder path artists will have worries
a-plenty when the season opens.
A track under the east stands of
the stadium will soon be completed
where the Huskers can work out in
bad weather this winter in prepara
tion for the indoor season. The
outdoor track, also under the super
vision of Coach Schulte will be com

Captain Maurice Gardner will lead
the field of middle distance runners
next spring. "Mud" steps the half
mile in the fast time of 1:56.2, and
holds the Missouri Valley indoor rec
ord for this event. Coats, who ran
both the 440 and 880 yard races,
wa3 lost through graduation. Dean
Higgens, letter man from last year,
is expected to go strong this season
in the half. Fairchild and Johnson
will also be out for the half mile.
Ed Allen, captain of the 1923
squad, and a miler of good caliber,
will be absent from this year's team.
Robert Wier is the only letter man in
this' event to return. Lewis, Zimmer
man, Haskell, and Schultz, of the
cross-country team, will be out for
the mile, however.
Ted Slemmons, the medical college
letter man, will be running the two
miles in great style next spring.
Cohen, cross-country runner, and
letter man in track, will be going
good. Beside Dickson of the cross
country team, there are Ross, Rogers
Howard, and Hyde, who will make
some keen competition in this race
In the dashes, the men to repre
sent the Scarlet and Cream will have
to be picked from last year's fresh
man team which won the Missouri
Valley telegraphic meet last spring,
as no letter men will be in school.
Big Dave Noble, star sprinter, will
graduate this semester. Keith Lloyd,
the sophomore flash of last season,
now attending the University of
Southern California, is the talk of
the Pacific coast. The material avail
able includes Locke, Hein, Rhodes,
Wier and Whipperman.

who chalked up some fast time on
the freshman squad last season in
the high hurdles, are fast on the 220

holds the NeorasKa record in this
race will be making fast time next
spring.
The loss of Ted Smith will be
keenly felt in the 440 yard dash.
"Red" Layton and Lewis Trexler,
both letter men from last year, will
be back. Whipperman and Sherrick
will make a strong bid in this race,
