GRID TEAM PREPARES
FOR NOTRE DAME GAME
With two weeks before the next
game, the Cornhusker warriors have
in store the hardest workouts of the
season in preparation for the big
contest of the season, when the Irish
from Notre Dame appear at the
NebrasH memorial stadium Novem
ber 10 to audit their yearly accounts
with the fighting Cornhuskers.
The game at Columbia last Satur
day gave the dope bucket a kick
when the Tigers came out of the con
test with as many markers in their
scoring column as the Cornhuskers.
The team that faced the Cornhuskers
was, according to the coaches and old
timers of Columbia, "a new Missouri
team." Never in the history of the
school have the Miczous fought like
they did Saturday. It was their big
game of the season and they made
a good showing.
The question shouldn't be "what
was the matter with the Cornhusk
ers?" but "what happened to Mis
souri?" The Cornhuskers put a won
derful battle, every man on the team
fighting every minute. The breaks
of the game halted the Husker at
tacks. The field was muddy and the
ball was wet. There was consider
able fumbling on both sides but it
just happened that there was a Mis
sourian there when a Nebraska back
fumbled.
No one asked the question "what
was the matter with Notre Dame?"
last year when the Iluskers turned in
a decisive victory. They all com
mented on the playing of the Ilusk
ers. Every one knows that Notre
Dame played its best but that the
Cornhuskers were all primed to win.
So it is when all the other Valley
teams meet Nebraska. They would
rather turn in a victory over the
Scarlet and Cream than any other
team and consequently go in for ev
erything they are worth to turn back
the Iluskers.
The playing of Dave Noble and
the nerve of Captain Lewellen were
the outstanding features of, the
Husker team. When Lewellen inter
cepted a pass on the Nebraska 30
yard line and ran to a touchdown
there was but one opponent between
him and a touchdown and Weir re
moved that obstacle. Lew's arm was
in very bad condition but he played
the game with a nerve that was un
beatable.
There is no game for this week
and all time is being used for stren
uous practices. Scrimmages will
be hold every night with the second
squad and with the freshman.

The Michigan Daily was able to
have an extra telling of the results
of the game at the gates of the foot
ball field when the crowd was leav
ing. Conection by private telephone
with the field enabled a picked staff
to have the paper off the press with
in a few minutes of the final whistle
and waiting automobiles rushed it to
the gates.
