In this &ge of controversy and speculation, much has been said about the relationship of the student to Christianity. The thought concern ing this question has given rise to the organization of the World Chris tian Student Federation. It has been called a "Movement" rather than a "Society" in every other country tl.an the United States. This is, no doubt, a more proper name, for the move has come almost involuntarily and in many different ways and countries. It has been colored by tha tli-ug-it of the students and by their ideas of Christian living. These organizations have, beon pro ductive of much needed thought upon religious subjects. The spirit of most all their investigations has been scien tific. They desire to learn what is the true christian way of living. By this they imply that the church as well as themselves, has not reach -d perfection. Much real good can come of this sort of research, for it is being done in an impartial, al though Christian, manner. The church can look to these "Seekers of Truth" for its help and for its criti cism for these students are banded together to get down to the basis of things and will find the imperfec tions as well as the beauties of Chris tianity. The Y. W. C. A. and the Y. M. C. A. are organizations of our campus that are doing the work of the World Christian Student Federation. The members are trying to find the right way of living. The work of these organizations should not be done by those who do it merely as a cam pus activity. The members of the Y. W. C. A. and of the Y. M. C. A. should work for what they believe to be the best in life and no other consideration should govern their actions. RAG CARPET Conducted by Carolyn Airy a The Rag Doll says that many peo ple flunk Political Science because of constitutional inertia. dents in close and constant touch with the organizations' purpose and to make it a vital thing. Present day problems and situa tions are studied in relations to the principles upheld by the associations. The weekly world forum luncheons, sponsored jointly by the Y. M. C. A. and Y. W. C. A. deal largely with this application of the aims. World fel lowship classes are held during sev eral weeks of each year under the auspices of the women's association. Study of missions are part of the program, along with discussions of social, industrial and international questions. The Christian associations are val uable to the University and to the students in all the phases of the work they embrace. The Christian fellowship which they radiate urul the services they render are influ ences for individual and social bet terment which cannot be negltctd Certain letters are now in circu lation from the office of the Dean. This school, as a body of students, sing3 poorly. There are concrete ex amples at every football game. The "Comhusker" is not sung with a great amount of spirit and the other songs suffer likewise. A few sing ing lessons, given to the students at other times than at football games, would bring spirit to a more desir able form. This is a critical period. The Huskers have not been winning by decisive scores and Notre Dame is next on the schedule. Nebraska mo rale beat the Irish once and it can do it again. The old spirit comes with song and we realize that we need the spirit. Fraternities and sororities could help the situation with a short sing ing session every day. Their organ ization used to help Nebraska sing many help Nebraska to beat Notre Dame. We need to sing. We need spirit. One is dependent upon the other. Iet's sing upon every occasion. The Christian associations on the campus, the Y. W. C. A. and the Y. M. C. A., are among the most potent forces for good in the TJni-ve-sity. Spiritually, thre is no other set of organizations that could fill their places. Joined by the same aims to develop their members as true followers of Jesus Christ and to unite them in christian fellowship and service, the student associations form the connecting link between the material and the more spiritual as- of University life.
