Earth Science In 110 Nebraska Hall;
and the Lincoln Academy of Medical
Science in .209 Chemistry building.
At these sectional meetings, a ser
ies of brief papers for specialists In
the several branches of science will
be read. A complete list of the
speakers and subjects will bo an
nounced at the time of the meeting.
At 11:00, in the auditorium of the
Temple, Dr. A. R. Mitchell will Rlve
a talk for the general public, on the
reaction of different types of men to
medical fakes and superstitions.
On Friday afternoon, in the social
science auditorium a series of papers,
not to exceed twenty minutes In
length, giving a sumposium of pro
gress in modern science will be read.
Each of these papers will tell of
current tendencies in a different
branch of science. They are as fol
lows: "Physical Chemistry," by Prol.
II. G. Deming; "Physics," by Prof.
H.. II. Marvin; Astronomy, by O. D.
Swezey; "Electrical Enfiinoering," by
Dean O. J. Ferguson, and "Paleon
tology," by Prof. E. II. Barbour.
From 8:15 until 4:15, the sectional
meeting will be continued.
At 4:45, until which time the re
ception will continue, JProfl. C. C.
Nutting, head of the department of
zoology in the University of Iowa,
will give a lecture on "Marine Life
fn the Wfisf Indies," illustrating his
talk with several reels of motion
pictures taken on the Barbados-Antigua
Efpodition of 1918.
Saturday meetings will be an
nounced later.

where tho Huskers are doped to take
first place. The best Bruin high
Jumper, Treyer, who Jumped 5 feet,
11 1-2 Inches against Southern Cat
ifornla, Is not entered in Saturday's
meet. Turner 'iumped 6 feet, 3-4
inches at the Valley indoor, and if
he approaches this .mark, will un
doubtedly win first honors. Tarks,
another Husker, is given third In the
high Jump.
California will take first and sec
ond places In the broad Jump, as
there two Jumpers approach 23 feet,
while Lloyd, the best Husker In this
event, only doe sabout 21 feet, 6
Inches. California only has one man
entered In the pole vault, but lie
clears the bar at twelve feet, and
should win the event. Gleason of
Nebraska, who goes about 11 feet, is
given second place.
With two Javelin throwers beaving
the spoar around ISO feet, the Bears
are conceded the first and second
places, while Hartley, Husker is ex
pected to win third honors. Califor
nia is doped to take all three places
in tho discus throw, since three of
the Bruin athletes heave the discus
about 130 foot, better than the best
Husker in tho discus. Witter and
Lang, Boar shot putters, are conceded
first and second places in the shotput,
with a Husker taking third honors.
