game coming on Saturday, Coach Daw

workouts. The coeksureness of the
Husker eleven has been wiped out by
the Syracuse defeat, and the 'Varsity
pigskin warriors are tearing up the
Yearlings in the daily scrimmages
with a savage fight, which has been
lacking in the lluskers thus far in the
senson.
Line Coach Henry Sclmlte gave the
linesmen a strenuous workout on
charging, and the 'Varsity showed new
power in ripping up the freshman wall
as a result of this drill. A fierce line
attack Is being developed, which will
cause the Jayhawkers no little diffi
culty on Saturday.
. The contest with the Jayhakers this
week will be far from the lead pipe
cinch that the Husker followers
thought it would be before the defeat
of the lluskers by the Orange ma
chine last Saturday. The Kansans
have learned that the so-called Husker
"wonder" team is not invincible, and
they will make a supreme effort to
dedicate their new stadium with a
victory over their old rival, the Scar
let and Cream. The Kansas team
trimmed the Oklahoma eleven last
Saturday by a 19 to 3 score, while the
Huskers won from the Sooners by a
3!) to 7 count.
Nothing would please the Jaybawk
team more than to defeat the Nebras
ka machine. The enmity between
these two schools is of long standing,
and as Nebraska has come out on
top with discouraging regularity, the
Jayhawkers would be willing to give
up the ghost if they could deefat the
strong Husker team this year, and in
augurate the opening of their stadium
with a victory.
One feature has been neglected by
the management of the Husker special
to Kansas in regard to the trip.
Husker supporters who make the jour
en yto Lawrrenoe to see the Kansas
game Saturday will have a chance to
hear what is probably the greatst col
lege yell in the country, the Kansas
"Rock-Chalk -Jayhawk" yell. This
cheer, when given by the thousands
of Kansas supporters, will make an
impression on the Nebraska followers
that will never be forgotten.

People's Group Have
Fine Entertainment
The young people's group of All
Soul's Unitarian church was very
delightfully entertained last eve
ning by Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Hardy
at thoir home in Calvert Place. The
program was an illustrated talk by
Mr. Hardy on the many, interesting
places which he and Mrs. Hardy
visited during their recent. European
trip particularly their trip over the
battlefields. At the close of his
talk Mr. Hardy answered questions
concerning his trip. A supper was
served and the remainder of the
evening spent informally. At a short
business meeting is was arranged
thnt the next meeting of the young
people, who meet every other Sunday
evening In the homes of the church
neonle for the purpose of bringing the
students together, would be at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Corn-
stock. 1428 E street. The subject
for the evening's talk and discussion
will be "Should Persons -who were
trivon long Prison Sentences because
of their Opposition to War he Re
leased?" Sixty were present last
evening.
To Investigate How
Students Spend Time
The Dartmouth bns picked out 200
representative undergraduates whom
it will Interview In the investigation
which it is to hold starting Thursday
of this week for the purpose of se
curing actual facts and statistics as
to how the College spends its time.
These 200 men will be asked to keep
detailed accounts of how they spend
their time for the week from Novem
ber 2to November 9. Prof. G. H.
Tanley's clnss in Statistics of the
Tuck School will compile the results
of the Investigation.
In starting this investigation of time
utilization, the first of Its kind at
Dartmouth, The Dartmouth has four
main Questions to which it seeks an
answer. What is the typical day of
an undergraduate? What difference
are evident between the four classes?
What do the undergraduates do each
day of the woof? What do they do
each hour of the day? The Dartmouth.

looked but Notre Dame
Draws Much Attention
The football world may rest, this
week after the strenuous day last Sat
urday when upsets occurred fast and
often. Nebraska's tumble was the big
spill of the day with Washington and
Jefferson following a close second
when she fell before Lafayette. The
big games Saturday are the annual
battlos between Harvard and Prince
ton, and the Army and Notre Dame.
Our next big battle is the fray with
the "Fighting Irish" on Turkey Day.
However, we cannot look too lightly
upon the Jayhakers, our opponents of
next Saturday, for they have been play
ing some good football. They will un
doubtedly put up a fight to koi-p the
Cornnuskers off th;'ir goal line and
halt, any of the snap-it-and-iun affairs
that the Nebraskans have been wont
to practice on their opponents. Har
vard and Princton will clash it Cam
bridge in one of teh Big Three bat
tles (h;.t attract much i.ltc.r'on in
the sport world every year
Nebraskans will watch with inter
est the outcome of the Notre Dame
Army clash. The South Benders have
been crushing everything that looks
l:!co a football team and Nebraska is
on the Irish schedule. However the
Huskers will be out to fight the big
gest battle of the year and Rockne is
undoubtedly aware that the big north
erners are not ready to concede the
battle to anyone before the last whis
tle blows.
Applications Must be Made Be

Fellowship Chairman
The American Association of Uni
versity Women has announced nine
fellowships available for the academic
year 1H23-1 H24. Applications and rec
ommendations must, be received not
later than February 1, 1023, and
should be sent to Professor Margaret
E. Maltby, Barnard College, Columbia
University, New York City. The
amounts of the fellowships vary from
S5000 to 51,000, and are payable in two
equal payments on July 1 and Jan
uray 1.
Application is made by a letter to
the chairman of the Committee on
Fellowships. The letter of applica
tion should contain an account of the
applicant's educational training, a
statement in full of the plan of study
or research, and the object in view.
It should be accompanied by:
1. A certificate from the registrar
of the college or University award
ing the degree or degrees received by
the applicant.
2. Date of birth; testimonials as
to the health, character, personality,
ability, and scholarship of the appli
cant. 3. Theses, papers, or reports of In
vestigations, published or unpub
lished, unless other requirements are
specified.
The committee cannot assume any
responsibility for collecting testimon
ials for an applicant.
Theses, papers and letters submit
ted by the applicant will be returned
If postage is sent for that purpose.
Confidential letters sent, to the Com
mittee are retained; but if an unsuc
cossful applicant wishes to make use
of them in applying for a fellowship
elsewhere, they will be sent to the
chairman of the Committee on Fcl
lowships, providod these testimonials
are regarded as confidential.
The nceptance of a fellowship Im
plies the obligation on the part of
the fellow to devote herself unre
servedly to study or research as out
lined in her application; to submit
any proposed change In her plan to
the chairman for t approval; and to
send to the chairman at least two
reports on her work, one not later
than March 1, 5924, and the othtr
upon the completion of her year's
work. The committee regards the ac
ceptance of a fellowship as creating
a contract requiring the fulfillment of
these conditions.
The Sarah Berlinger Research and
Lecture Fellowship.
The Committee on Fellowship of
the American Association of Univer
sity Women has been made the com
mittee on award of this Fellowship,
of the value of from one thousand to
twelve hundred dollars, offered an
nually. It is available for research
in physics, chemistry or biology. This
Fellowship is open to American
women holding the degree of Doctor
of Philosophy or Doctor of Science
who give promise of distinction in
the subject to which they are devot
ing themselves.

dates -who can carry on research and
at the same time have the privilege
