JIMMY BEST
For thirty-four years Jimmy Best,
Nebraska's Grand Old Man, has been
helping Nebraska to turn out winning
athletic teams. ror thirty-four years
Jimmy has been giving the loving care
to llusker athletes that only one who
loves his work can give.
Since 1SSS Jimmy Best has been on
the job day after day in cold and in
storm, despite failing health, old age
and physical handicaps. In all this
time he h;.s been giving in thought
and loving care far mure than the
Athletic Department could ever pay
him for in money.
Now Nebraska has a chance to re
pay in a small way what Jimmy has
done for the school. Nebraska is go
ing to have a chance to help him get
a vacation a trip to California that
he has long been looking forward to.
Boxes have been placed at various
places on the campus for contribu
tions from the four thousand students
in the University. Ten cents from
each of these four thousand will give
him a four hundred dollar trip that
will be one of the happiest times in
his rapidly closing life.
During the past year Nebraska has
seen many worthy drives put over the
top Ly lojal Husker support, but with
out exception tiii movement is the
finest one Nebraska lias seen this
year. Every loyal Nebraskan ought to
give and give.
Other Worlds Than
Our Own.

In .Years Gone By.
Sixteen Years Ago Today
The seniors left over the Burlington
for Milford to spend the day. The
Old Soldiers' Home was the scene of
the festivity for the sneak day.
Fourteen Years Ago Today
A Jap was seen cn the campus tak
ing pictures of the cadet battalion, but
rnn away when questioned as to his
purpose. The reason for his work is
not known.
Ten Years Ago Today
In the special. Law Edition of the
Daily Nebraskan, there were articles
telling of the new building for the law
school, the prominence of laws in the
college and many others of interest.
Five Years Ago Today
Nearly 1000 students had left the
University for training camps. Be
sidesthose entering the army, students
were leaving to fill vacant positions
Two Years Ago Today
Beatrice, Wilber and DeWitt carried
off the honors in their respective
classes in the high school track meet.
The Exhaust
"All are not fools who would fool
you" so moralizes Pathe, but we
agree with Lincoln that most of them
are. And our idea is another of the
cinematograph mottoes, "Fool not lest
you be fook-d."
Lovely spring weather with grass
growing green
Tennis courts ready or play
But the profs, have outgrown their
old spring fever years
And I've an exam today.
We thuught the Seniors had already
done enough but it seems that be
side picnifing and graduating, there
is something else that the Seniors are
going to start. It is giving all of them
an awful start, we suppose, but they
can leave the finishing touches to the
Freshmen.
"The fresher the egss, the better
the omelette," s;ys an old proverb.
But there is such a thing as being too
fresh, although our experience is with
the other extreme.
Once there was an honest man who
returned a girl's Dorine without being
bribed.
