NEBRASKA TROPHIES
Since 1S67, or as soon after that
time as th'.-re was any decree of com
petition bftween universities for hon
ors, the I'niversity of Nebraska has
been producing at'i'eiie. forensic and
other teams which cave brought to
the Cornhusk'-r institution trophies
and honors of various nature. All
during this time, the troj.hies hae
been stored away or nearly so by be
ing hidden in an old case in the Tem
ple building.
Few are the students who have re
viewed the gallantries of the cM ath
letes by looking over the trophies.
Yet the trophies of the past are stim
ulants for a greater Nebraska spirit.
Nebraska needs a large, handsome

Dearest Jane:
Back again from our last vacation
and it is apparent that rising for
ieht o'clocks. digging around for
things in books and continuing the
sleep habit has lost none of its ro
manticism. Notice the superfluity of
new spring tegs I'll bet that every
one wore their worst rags home and
the family were so asnamed of them
that they rigged 'em out in shining
respectability.
This tamily affection certainly !
uplifting isn't it? Dad says he wants
no more monkey business and Moth
er says that the P's and Q's are not
to bo forgotten and gives you such
a list of things you must tell her
when you write that 1 think it would
be a good idea to have a standard
sheet mimeographed and fill out th?
blanks.
Saw Jimmy Aimable on the train
coming back. He was all crouched
down in a seat and looked like the
world had left him behind. Fell to
talking with him and drew him out
you know the way the novelist al
ways has the hero telling his life his
tory to the sympathetic heroine.
'Oh, I'm too darn quiet," mourned
Jimmey. "Everytime I try to put
something across I fail to play up at
the crucial moment. No more of the
gay life for m; next year I'm going
t3 take Law and drown my troables
or else get myself kicked out of
school. Started to grow a moustache
just before vacation wasn't such a
prominent one but I thoucht it would
make a hit with Jean. Dashed up to
see her the first nicht and just when
I thought she was being impressed
with my tales of the big thincs I was
doing down here, she chanses the
subject entirely and says, "Jimmy, I
do believe you have a dirty face."
'I felt so bad that I didn't defend
myself and hadn't the courage to go
back to see her asrain. The Heck
with the wimen." says Jimmey.
I sympathized with him real sweet
ly and he took me to eat when we
got off the train. Being of the little
brother type of fellow, the Big Sister
stuff got by fine.
"Count your successes by your
gains." said some wise bird.

Syracuse University The Inter

problem of the establishment of new

survey of representative student
opinion shows that a gen'-ral ncd for

while they discountenance so many

be organized unless with the purpose
of going national. Standards should
b set by which a new local frater
