TOUGH, ISN'T IT?
Ils going t,o be nn awful hard
spring for bowleggeil men. Knick
ers seem to have arrived. And al
though there are certain advanuiges
in being bowlegged, wearing krA-kers
is not one of them.
Knickers may be all right, but they
don't mean anything. They are ex
cellent for sport wear, and battins
around the countryside, or some such
diversion. Dut as to their utility fo-
cveryday wear, no one can say con
clusive:. George Washington and
Napoleon Bonaparte wore them and
yet became great men. Abraham Lin
coln and General Pershing did not
wear them and yet becaue great Men.
Draw your own conclusions.
However, lashlon dictates what to
wear (except when one happens to be
broke, and then he wears an t'.ing he
can find or borrow.) So that If the
craze seems to go far enough, it is
possible that knickers may cease to
be a luxury and advance into the ne
cessity class. If so, as we said be
fore, it will be highly embarrassing
for bowlegged persons. Ohio State

LUEHRING HAS GONE j
Fred V. Luehring, formerly director'1
of athletics at the University of Ne- j
braska, has officially turned over the j
adminisCrative reins to Fred Daw
eon and vacated the little two-by-four J
office he occupied in the Armory.
It must have been with a sign of
relief, as he left these inadequate,
cramped quarters for the last time:
but we be:ieve, too, that he must have
felt a tinge of regret because Ne
braskans had learned to love him ana
be had many pleasant asociations.
Luehring has more than made goo.;
during his residence in Nebraska and
we have nothing but words of com
mendation for him and his work
When he came to Lincoln he was
tendered many glittering promises as
to equipment, capital, etc. But these
dreams failed to materialize and with
the ever-present lack of adequate fac
ilities, the job became too small for
Luehring. A larger field has claimed
him.
He may come back sometime He
Is not so very far away and we ex
pect to see him often. Conditions
will not always be hopeless at Ne
braska. Someday we will have gym
nasiums and stadiums to our hearts"
content, and then Luehring may
come back.
