EX-NAVY MAN HAS PLAN TO DECEIVE INQUISITIVE ONES You can't fol a college student! When Johnson Coolofoot, ex-navy man, now registered in the College of Liberal Arts, went home last Wed nesday night, and saw that someone had ben reading his leters, he hatched a plot. A. Conan Doyle has nothing on Coolofot when it comes ' to plot tingfor a little fun. He wrote himself a leter, which ran as follows: 'My Dear Mr. Coolo foot: Our purchasing agent, Mr. Lud wig, has authorized me to offer you $100,000 for your invention. We are anxious to close this deal at once. (Signed) Thomas Edison, Inc., In ventors." He left this letter on his study table, and sure enough, Mrs. Landlady perused it, and experienced a profound thrill. In her house dwelt a man who could command 100,000 borrles from Thomas Edison. The next day Coolofoot left copy of an alleged telegram from himself to tho Thomas Edison company, which said: "Would not think of accepting less than a million. Sorry." Coolofoot stated today that he hasn't been "dunned" for his room rent for several days. 'Silver and Gold." U. 'of C, Boulder, Colo. in general with the world activities, being satisfied and weit renumerated by considering domestlo Interests alone, has failed to develop our young men along foreign trade lines. The remoteness of our frontiers and of the frontiers of other nations has made a close contact by most Ameri cans with their business, their lan guages, their money and their cus toms, a thing of infrequency. The tour which will take sixty-five days, will cover the most important commercial and industrial conlers of England, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Switzerland. The days will be filled with excursions to har bors, banks, factories, chambers of commerce and stock and produce ex changes, and many of the evenings will be taken up by conferences and lectures conducted by representa tives of the American Express Co., by local business and government of ficials, and by members of the fac ulties of local universities. Full co-operation will be given by all the officials of the American Ex press Co., particularly Mr. W. J. Thomas, head of the American Ex press Co., in Europe, and the general managers in the various countries vis. ited. The tour Is made to appeal to two classes the instructor and stu dent, and the business man, manu facturer and banker. Although sixty-five days is a short time, it is believed that through care ful planning and consequent economy of time and effort, and through the information given in the lectures and conferences, the members of the tour will obtain an accurate and clear pic ture of the commercial life of the countries visited. The tour should have an equal appeal for the man who has never been abroad and for the man who has traveled in Europe merely on a pleasure tour. The ser ious purpose of the tour and the co operation of the European institutions will make the journey of exceptional value to anyone seeking concrete and first hand information about Euro pean business and industrial conditions.
