The woman's division of the uni
versity chamber of commerce of
which Nancy Pennoyer is president
as been granted recognition by the
nn'.TersIty authorities. The organ
ization was formed some time tgo by
Jxrot forty girls In the college of
business administration, as a supple
mentary to the university commercial
club.
Aipna XI Delta was hosutas to
twenty-one Lincoln mothers at the
chapter house, Saturday afternoon,
November 19. The mothers o.' the
active Lincoln girls tire forming u
club, and were entertained ut the
first meeting by the sorority
United Ag. Club.
United Ag club held Its first social
event of the year Friday evening and
a large number of farmer boys and
home economics girls attended. A
short program of reading and dutch
dancing preceeded the dancing which
was the main feature of the evening,
except for the refreshmnts which
served to make the night complete.
Theta Sigma Phi.
The annuol banquet of Thta Sigma
Phi, professional journalistic sorority,
was held at the Lincolnshire Sunday
evening following initiation of new
members at the Delta Zeta house in
the afternoon. Twenty active and
alumnae members were present. Roses
and sweet peas decorated the table.
Miss Jessie Watson, toastmia tress,
called upon Mrs. Jessie Beghtol Lee
of Buffalo, N. Y., Miss Louise Pound,
Miss Sarah T. Muir, Miss Dorothy
Colburn and Miss Wllma Winter
alumnae members of the sorority, for
impromptu talks.

party in the armory, enjoying
a fine program and an evening ot
dancing.
UNI HAS COMPLETED TWO
THOUSAND FEET OF FILM
The conervatlon and survey depart
ment of the University has just com
pleted a 2,000 foot film showing the
agriculture and development story of
Saunders county. This film started
with avlew of the native prairie and
cover sthe agricultural development
from the soil, showing the field
crops, farm animals, roads and farm
homes. It shows also the schools,
churches, towns and social gather
ings. The reels are to be used by Mr.
Roberts, county agricultural agent,
and will be shown in every communi
ty of the county. They are dedicated
to the old settlers of the county.

is it celebrated?
A. Chaiter day is the birthday of
the University and is celebrated on
February 15 of each year.
Q. When was the first college of
medicine incorporated?
A. The first college of medicine
in the entire prairie region of the west
was incorporated at Omaha in 1869,
but it was not until 1880 that such
an institution became a reality.
Q. When was the first graduating
class of the University of Nebraska?
A. The first graduating class was
in 1873 and it, was composed of
James Stuart Dales and William H.
Q. When was Phi Beta Kappa or
ganized at Nebraska?
A. Alpha chapter of Phi Beta Kap
pa was established at Nebraska in
1895 but the class of '96 was the first
to receive degrees.
The Varsity dairy club me, at Ag.
hall, Thursday evening for several in
terestlng pep talks by Prof. Davis,
Prof. Luithly and Mr. Higgins. Glen
Hunt and Elton Lux gave a shurt out
lino of their trip with the dairy judg
ing team and Wayne Gray did the
same for the dairy products judging
team. -
This dairy show at St. Paul i3
something that will not soon be for
gotten by those who had the pleasu
ure of attending it. Most of the best
'dairy herds In the country were rep
resented as well as great dbplujs of
dairy machinery and equipment
which amounted to about J3.000.000.
The evening performance of the horse
show held in the large hippodromo
was also very attractive.
This meeting was open to all in
teresiad in work of this department.
Many plans were suggested for work
throughout the year and with regard
to the program during "Organized
Agriculture Week" in January and
afrmers' fair in the spring.
