ON WITH THE DANCE.
nanrinsr is one oi" the mo.t de
lightful relaxations available lor stu
dents at Nebiaska. University stu
dents in larger cities than Lincoln
are afforded a variety of entfrUur
ment which we lack here. For this
reason we must and do resort al
most entirely to dancing for our
amusement.
Friendship, sociability, and inter
change of ideas, are three distinct
features of a party that brln?; mo
mentary and lasting pleasure to tin
participants. A new acquaintance,
bit of repaitee that is wortli ivpeatiiu-
or a slightly altered idea, ar- thing!
we seek, and which are worUi whi!?.
Does our dancing at Nebraska af
ford these things to us? At the pres
ent time it DOES NOT. Nehrai.kaiis
have been called snobs and much
promising material goes to other
schools because of tV-e ltiputaiion
however groundless it may b. How
much does tour method of Ji-.ncing
have to do with this?
Before the war no dance v.-;.s com
plete without elaborate programs.
They served as a guide to the dancers
throughout the evening and were kept
as souvenirs which brought back
happy memories. Nebraska now
dances without programs. The iesui
is that a couple will dance through
out an entise evening witlx.ut ex
changing a i-ing.e dance. What
chance have the dancers lor making
