Amazons Hit Road
For Hikes Eat Half
Cooked Bacon and Soup
All roads lead from Lincoln. So
thought the thirty-three girls who hit
the high roads last week-end and
covered the sum total of two hundred
and fifty two miles. With only a
month and a half left to get in their
hiking credits and with such a Sun
day for out of doors, is it any wonder
that the sport that is bo detrimental
to shoe leather was so popular for
the day Six separate groups of hik
ers went on jaunts. Some went east,
some went west, some early and some
late. Almost any highway was en
livened some time Sunday by a group
of girls with no place to go but hike,
and no place to hike but out just so
the required number of miles were
covered.
One group went east to Stevens
Creek and enjoyed half-cooked bacon
over a real camp fire. One radical
group of hikers featured the popular
army trousers, which they unskirted
on the outskirts of the city. The
I group that went west on the Emerald
road specialized on tomato soup for
the day's main dish. Some -wandered
aimlessly along with no object but
to enjoy themselves and to cover so
many miles while enjoying the latest
bits of scandal within possession of
the group.
The group that took the prize for
the number of miles covered was the
one which walked out past Rokeby
and back. The next day found several
of them stiff and weary and denying
that the feat was worth the doing,
considering the compensation.
The Punichment.
"What is the extreme punishment
for bigamy?"
"Two mothes-in-law."
