A social service program was given
at vespers Tuesday afternoon. Dr.
David L. Thomas, student pastor for
the Congregational church, spoke on
Social Service." Students represent-

Dr. Thomas emphasized the oppor
tunlty for social service work even
for . those who are not specially
rained and do not expect to be. He
defined social service as anything that
was done to stimulate in others higher
ideals. He said that in a democratic
country social democracy Is very
important; people must realize that
all human beings have an equal right
to live. In conclusion, he said that
we must view others critically, cfm
structively and charitably and strive
for abundant life for every member
of the community.
Mr. McCandless , told of the street
car strike in Denver. He went to
Denver and worked In various indus
tries for the purpose of investigating
conditions among employees. While
he was there the street car strike
occurred.
