Judging from the try-outs yester day afternoon on the board track, Coach Schultc will have excellent ma terial to build up a track team in the next few years. -In the 660-yard run, Gardner, a yearling, against two Sophomores, Metzger and Addison, came in first with very good' time, 1:33-4, which is the second best time which has been run on the Corn husker track this spring. Gardner had little competition, Addison was running far ahead with one lap to go but dropped out thinking he had finished. It is reported by the Coach that Addison has a good chance to make the team this spring. Another Freshman, Osborn, ran a lap against time, covering the board track in 17-4. This is not the best that has been made this year, but the season is yet young. In a contest between the weight men who were throwing the 16-pound shot, Monte Munn succeeded in shov ing out the brass about 37 feet Nebraska is fortunate in having "Squirt" Owen, a crack quarter-miler, back this year. He is reporting for practice every' evening and is helping to instruct the new men out for track. "Squirt's" ankles are strength ening satisfactorily and he soon will be in first class condition. If Nebraska meets Illinois at the Drake Relays It will mean stiff com petition. Reports come from the Illini camp that they conquered Pur due in easy manner in a dual meet. mini's mile relay team made the four quarter in 3:25. With the wealth of material that Coach Schulte is training, it is ex pected that Nebraska will make good In the late season meets.
