.UNIVERSITY NIGHT
Tho rapid :sale of tickets for Saturday night indicates that the
.until annual University Night performance will be a success. There
is promise of am audience that viil fill the Auditorium to overflow
ing. The night is closed except for one formal party, and the Uni-
ver?ity will ttcd en masse; University Night is the one night of all
the year when 3"ull Care is thrown aside, and the elves of mischief
and satire poke fun at Taculty and students. No censorship board
applies n he rubber stamp rf propriety to any of the remarks or actions
that art released Faculty members see themselves as they are 6een
by studi.ts; the personal eccentricities and mannerisms of each one
! being singled ut and exaggerated to some extent. None who were
present at last ytr's performance vlll have forgotten the "six inch
.rule" whjih caused so much enjoyment. This year other campus
r personally will n,doubt b the "butt of all good-natured fun."
CornhusKer sale ladies ho combed the campus yesterday for
ho dollar tills, as first payment on Cornhuskers, complain of the
interest taXtsj. in the'rbook by most students. The usual reply to the
question, "Bsn't you want to fcuy a Corrihusker?" is "I'll get one all
right, but I haven't gt the money with me." Such is as good as a
refusal, and -prolongs ahe subscription campaign unnecessarily long,
kepfoig the mtragemeai in a &te of uncertainty as to the success
of t!,e campaign. Have the mr.ney ready for the girl solicitor, so
thatxrvhen sheaWks fer jour subscription you will be prepared.

SOLID GOLD
America's colleges have proved that thr ring true by the sterling
performances of their sons in rallying to tie cause of democracy.
Even the professional Jokesters have realized that the "college man"
skit is no longer appreciated. The college tta has justified his ex
istence; and the jokesters no longer carry the crowd with them when
they attempt fcumor at the expens of the college man.
The nation'? colleges are eaid to have given 150,009 men to the
colors, exclusive of the S. A. T. C. force. And of that glorious con
tribution, at least 6,000 gave up their lives "that the nation and the
world might live."
Alma Maters have beard of the accomplishments of their sons
with pride and joy, minfcled with rrief at th lo of Trr.y cj the
young men in whose hands the destinies of the ration will lie in the
next decade.
