That Ohio State is not the only western conference school to have a bright football outlook was empha sized when Coach Zuppke of Illinois issued the statement Tuesday that his team this year would be "as good as ever." At Illinois, as is was here, worry was felt as to the football out look, but the first practice at Cham paign brought out 37 gridiron candi dates, which rejoiced the heart of the little Illlni coach. Among the candidates reporting were Captain Kraft, "Swede" Rund quist and Schlandeman of last year's Tr-V8E For Sale at varsity, and Ingwersen, Nickols and Larrimore, freshman stars. Coach Zuppke also said, in talking of the coming football season, that he did not believe that the quality of the games would be lowered any this year. He added that Purdue, Indiana, Iowa and Ohio State would, in his estima tion, have as good teams as they did last year, while Minnesota, with a world of material, would undoubtedly have another strong team. Illinois plays the Buckeyes Novem ber 17, here, in the annual homecom ing game, which from first reports promises to be as close as the conflict last fall which started Ohio on its first "Big Nine" football champion shipOhio State Lantern.
