Not. mere opinion or belief, but con
crete action, is the test of spirit, in
the opinion of Miss Adelia Dodge, field
secretary of the north-central district
of the Y. V. C. A., who spoke on
"Dramatised Religion" at Vespers
yesterday afternoon.
"We like to see things in action.
We give pageants to illustrate pas
sive facts; we enjoy moving pictures
because they give us life-size pictures
of action. In just such a way should
we show our interest in our religion
by doing things."
This activity, which is the concrete
expression of spirit, should not be re
sultless; it should accomplish some
thing; more than the obvious, the
routine, should be done.
"Seeing is believing, and so, in or
der to convince others of our belief,
we must do something to show them
how we feel," Miss Dodge continued,
following up her point.
Dramatized religion, on the other
hand, is not for a moment of the sen
sational sort. It is the serious, well-thought-out,
purposeful expression of
deep conviction. We should live what
we feel we should live our beliefs.
In connection with the Vespers pro
gram, Mildred Gillilan sang a vocal
sclo. Doris Weaver presided over
the meeting.
Mississippi and the Semester
The University of Mississippi is
considering the adoption of the se
mester system as opposed to the plan
of having three terms. The faculty
of the college of arts has expressed
itself as being in favor of the present
system by a small majority, and the
question will be brought up before the
whole faculty at its next meeting.
Mississippi, Texas, Georgia and Vir
ginia are about the only state univer
sities that still retain the three-term
system, Ex.
