The English Club Didn't Find
The Bottom Of The Jug
Scandal has broken loose in the
rhetoric department. For a long time
there has been a feeling about the
campua that the instructors of this
department have been concealing
something. They have been caught
winking at one another and wearing
very mysterious grins.
Saturday a reporter heard jueer
gurgling noises coming from room 107
and opened the door to find the cause.
Before bis astonished eyes stood Searl
Davis draining the content! of a gal
lon Jug. It was Quite obvious that
Mr. Davis was not learning to drink
Irom the receptacle. No glasses or
mug of any kind were in sight How
ever, other jugs were stationed about
the room. The "Order of the Jug
was evidently not a new organ izi-tlon.
Professor Sherlock Gass was
perched on top or a desk with a large
dougtnut In each hand and several
other members of the department
were enjoying the festivities. Profes
sor Buck arrived only to be informed
that be was too late.
Miss McPhee and Miss Craft seemed
to think the matter needed a little ex
planation. Tbey explained that a meet

The club usually meets at the various
homes but had decided to meet in
University hall as it did many years
ago. In the old days doughnuts and
cider were always served and Miss
Craft bad attempted to make it as ral
as possible. Prof. J. E. "LeRossignol
read a story of his own writing which
was published in the January issue or
the Canadian magazine. Miss Craft
also read a story of whioh she is the
author.
It seems that the company was not
able to consume all the food provided
but all roB early Saturday morning
and came down to finish It Imagine
their chagrin when they found that
the large sack of doughnuts had dis
appeared during the night and could
not be found. Suspicion centered on
Sherley V. Babbit who subborn
ly refused to unlock his desk. Things
were becoming rather serious for him
when shortly before noon Miss Craft
appeared and announced that she had
pit the food away until such time as
she thought they needed sustenance.
A loyal member of "The Golden
Fleece" was present at the morning
seesion but slipped away before she
could be Interviewed.
