Newbert Cafe, 137 No. 12th St PET BULL SNAKE LIKES RATS "Zip," the big bull snake pet of the department of zoology, doesn't mind at all when students pick him up and pet him. The fact that more do not do bo is not his fault, but is due to the- reluctance of the co-eds to get acquainted with him. In addition to his fondness for stu dents this big snake, which is four feet long, has a weakness for rats. He fasted for four weeks recently, then ate three rats at one meal. When a rat is tossed in to him he grabs it, coils around it until the rat fails to take any more interest in the pro ceedings, then swallows it whole, head first. One would think that he would be well aware that he had eaten some thing, as each of the rats are visible in the snake as they go through the process of digestion. "Zip" will ac cept only live rats.
