TREASURER HALL
HAS SAVED MONEY
FOR THE UNIVERSITY
George E. Hall, state treasurer, who
is a candidate for re election, has
adoptel a policy in making collections
from the county treasurers that is sav
ing the University thousands of dol
lars a year. By compelling the coun
ty treasurers to pay their monies into
the state fund monthly, warrants
drawn upon the state University funds
can be paid at once at par, and do not
have to be redeemed later with inter
est. The state treasurer's report at the
Capitol show that before Mr. Hall's
administration, these amounts were
paid out of the University fund for In
terest: In 1903-1904, $84.46; 1907-1908,
i2.897.50: 1908-1910, $11,047.36; 1911-
1912. $13,511.93; 1913-1914. $10,523.96;
December 1. 1914 to March 31, 1915,
$2,254.39. This amounts in all to
$40,31 S.GO, that would have been paid
to the University had Mr. Hall's meth
od been adopted. ' .
Mr. Hall has thus practically in
creased the University revenues by
making it unnecessary to pay interest
on the warrants. A similar saving has
been made for the normal fund. Po

FRANK A PETERSON
Class '05, Law '10
Democratic Candidate for
COUNTY ATTORNEY
Five hundred students of the Uni
versity of Nebraska will probably vote
in Lincoln on November 7. Many of
the candidates for public office, espe
cially in Lancaster county, are former
students of the University of Nebras
ka. Both from the standpoint of clti
zenshlp and of interest and loyalty to
the University of Nebraska, the stu
dents are probably anxious to learn
all they can about the progress of
former Nebraska graduates In public
life.
Mr. Frank A. Peterson, A. B., '05
LL. B., '10, is the democratic nominee
for county attorney of Lancaster coun
ty. In the University of Nebraska,
Mr. Peterson was a member of Phi
Alpha Tau. Phi Delta Phi, Palladian
Literary society, German club and
Latin club, and was active in the work
of each society. He also interested
himself In University debate and was
a member of the University debating
team against Iowa in 1905. In schol
arship he also distinguished himself,
having won both Phi Beta Kappa and
Theta Kappa Nu honors. Since com
pleting his college course Mr. Peter
son has practiced law with the law
firm of Mockett Peterson in this
city.
Mr. Peterson is waging a very ac
tive and vigorous campaign upon the
proposition that the county attorney's
office should be administered as a pub
lic trust and not as a private law of
