The police were at a loss to account for the smoke until a torch and a test tube were found on the lawn. Then the men recalled that one of their members was a chemistry assistant, and explanations were offered to ac count for the fire. STUDENTS NARROWLY ESCAPE SERIOUS INJURY Absorbed In watching the fire de partment make a run, a group of stu dents were jammed between the Ter minal building railing and an Electric park car Saturday evening at Tenth and O streets. Only the fact that the railing gave way saved them from going under the wheels of the car. Helen Minier was slightly injured and returned home but the rest of the crowd went on to the Alpha Theta Chi dance at Electric park. PENN SCRAP FATAL The recent class scrap between the sophomores and the freshmen of the University of Pennsylvania resulted in the death of one freshman and the serious injuriy of six other par ticipants.
