A tennis tournament for in dividual honors was also organized in the fall, but due to the large number of entries was not played off before bad weather set In. Basketball, the most popular sport among the girls at Nebraska, started after Thanksgiving vacation and end ed in an interolass tournament on Feb ruary 19, with the sophomores as champions. Basketball is taught in almost every high school of the state, and as a result, Nebraska gets splen did material. One hundred girls tried out for places on teams this year. The volley-ball season was short, but filled in the gap between basket ball and spring baseball. Class teams were not organized and no match games played, but many girls turned out for the game for the fun of play ing it. In preparation for the annual girls' track meet, training in track events started early in the spring along with baseball. The rules demand that a girl may enter only four events and that she must train for the particular events she enters. The sopho mores won the baseball game by a score of 22 to 9, and the Juniors won the Interclass relay. As compensation for work in ath letics, the Girls' Athletic association offers an "N" certificate to those who have played on a class team, received an "K" in regular gymnasium work and won a place in the field meet. These three honors may be secured in one year, but will count toward an "N" it won any time during a girl's college course.
