Dunbar and Humboldt played a see
saw game. Humboldt winning, 22-20
The Humboldt team led in the scoring
in tha first half hut Dunbar took a
brace and acquired a six point lead
With but four minutes to play, the
Humboldt men braced and won the
game, 22 to 20, and with it the Class
C title.
Crete failed to display the form
shown against Lincoln on Friday
night, and the heavier Beatrice team
pulled out the victors, 15 to 11. The
Crete five was outweighed but played
a better passing game. The Beatrice
forwards and center shot baskets with
great accuracy. Ward and Snellen
berg were the Beatrice scoring ma
chine and Hubka's close guarding
failed to elve the Crete forwards
many shots. Clarence Frundell was
the only Crete man to play true to
form. The long baskets that were
Lincoln's downfall, were notlecably
absent.
By defeating all comers in the tour
nament, Beatrice high won the undis
puted state basketball title.
The semi-finals of the high school
tournament at the city auditorium
Friday night, completely upset the
dope that Omaha would find her way
into the finals and probably win the
tournament. The boys from the Mis
souri river town were completely out-

MISS BOLES, ATHLETE
Miss Laura M. Boles, of Greenwich,
Conn., recently made a score of 117
out of a possible 175 with the shotgun.
That would be a good score for most
men. She also bowls, swims, dives
and plays tennis better than the run
of masculine athletes. What a bully
chum for a family of small boys a
woman of such accomplishments
would be. Exchange.
Convocation Notices
Prof. G. E. Howard will speak on
"The Challenge of the New Human
ism" in convocation Tuesday morn
ing, March 14. This lecture was given
at the mld-wlnter commencement and
is repeated by the special request of
the faculty, in order that the general
student body may get its benefit.

- The expense of setting up the
news part of The Daily Nebras
kan ran $75 higher during the
first month of this semester
than it ever has before. This
is due to the attempted Im
provement In the manner of
presenting the news, and the
extra features added In the ef
fort to make this semester's Ne
braskan the best the university
has ever had.
But this cannot continue un
der the present circumstances.
It will be Impossible to run the
material In the future in the
way It has been run In -the past
without an Increased circula
tion. Our expenses are too
heavy at present for the size
of the subscription list. The
editorial and news staffs have
much of greater Interest than
before to submit to the stu
dents. New features In the news
line, and new things of Inter
est in the editorial line are
waiting In the office to be given
to the students. But these
things cannot be properly pre
vented to the public In the prop
er form unless we have . the
means.
