The national conclave of Achoth
elected the following officers for the
coming year:

Miss Green was re-elected secretary
for her fourth term and Miss Pepper
as treasurer. The five-year term of
Etta Smith, who is editor-in-chief of
the Achoth publication, does not ex
pire for two years. After the banquet
at the Lincoln Saturday evening, tuc

According to Miss Green, several
colleges are preparing to petition for

Pi Phi Format
The. pi Phi formal party, held at the
Lincoln Saturday night, was attended

the grand march. The chaperons
were Prof, and Mrs. R. J. Poole, Prof.

The Student Should Know
THE UNIVERSITY GIRLS' CLUB
The University Girls' club, founded
at the University of Nebraska in 1906,
is an organization the purpose of
which is to offer an opportunity for
a friendly, helpful fellowship among
the women of the school; to develop
a feeling of mutual responsibility and
a high regard for both liberty and
order; to be a medium by which the
social standard of the university may
be made and kept high; to foster the
spirit of unity and loyalty to the Uni
versity of Nebraska and to bring be
fore its members subjects that are
of special interest and Importance to
college women.
The club accomplishes its purpose
by means of parties for all university
girls, given at various times through
out the year. The Girls' Cornhusker
party, football luncheon and fresh
man welcome party have become
annual events through the work of
the Girls' club.
All women students of the univer
sity arc associate members of this
organization and active members on
payment of dues. The annual dues
are 50 cents, half of which ia used
for the current expenses of the club;
and the remainder for the establish
ment of a permanent fund for the care
of sick women students and for as
sisting those who are making their
own way through school.
The club is governed by an execu
tive board and a council. The execu
tive board consists of the dean of
women, four officers and three mem
bers each from the senior, junior and
sophomore classes. The council Is
composed of representatives from
each literary society and sorority and
from each rooming house at which
four or more university women live;
the president of the Y. W. C. A. and
women's class societies and the mem
bers of the executive board.

DOROTHY CANFIELD FISHER
Dorothy Canfleld Fisher, well known
as a novelist and author, was a resi
dent of Lincoln as a girl, while her
father was Chancellor of the univer
sity. 1891-1895. In a recent letter to
a Lincoln friend, Miss Louise Pound,
of the department of English litera
ture. Mrs. Fisher writes of her strong
sympathy for the French adding, "If

Before her marriage, Mrs. Fisher
spent several years in France, and has
a Ph. D. In romance languages from
Columbia university. She la the au
thor of the well known novels, "The
Squirrel Cage- and "The Bent Twig,"
of many magazine 6tories, and also of
many educational publications, like
"The Montessori Mother."
ELSIE WARNOCK
Miss Elsie Warnock, A.B. '08, A. M.
12, is teaching English in the high
school at Albuquerque, N. M. She
writes that Albuquerque has a fine
new high school building, of good size,
with an enrollment of over 400 stu
dents. Albuquerque has a shifting
population, she says, including inval
ids from the east, a good many Mex
icans, and some Indians from the gov
ernment school there. There are many
Indian pueblos and old Indian
churches in the vicinity.
