Nebraska, as second-class mall matter, nnder the act of Congress of March 3. 1S79. VOTER. BEWARE! Beware, because at the coming elec tion you haTe before you a task of great Importance, the result of which concerns not only your class, but the whole school as well. You must se lect two futur editors of the Corn husker. The Cornhusker is primarily a uni rerslty publication. By it, more than by any other publication, the school will be judged. It must compare fa vorably with the annuals of the best schools east and west It must be unique and artistic. It must be complete and representative of all interests. It must be distinctive, and a masterpiece of rhetorical finish. Is the man for whom you are about to vote the best qualified to secure these results? Mas he sufficient orig inality to turn out a book different from any we have ever had? Has he artistic taste that will make the work in every detail pleasing to the eye? Has his activity in the university been such as to make him acquainted with its every interest? Is he impar tial and just to all with whom he may be forced to deal? If he does not come up to these re-J quirements, do not vote for him, even though you have promised him that you would. A vote for a poor man for these offices is a knock on the school. I tn tn be naiufully extreme. We trust that our point of view is made clear, and that the organizations will give us due consideration. THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST NOISE Our campaign against Lincoln's noise is not abandoned merely be cause we give front page space to what we believe is of more immediate moment to the students. We intend to continue; we hope to determine whether there is good reason why Lincoln should not grant these re quests, and if there is not, to humbly tell the people of the state how things stand. Will the trade - with the engine yard be consummated? If not, why not? Why are those mho 6hould take the initiative in the matter of pav ing not doing bo? Why can't the Tenth 6treet cars run on Ninth street? In connection with these inquiries there are other matters which show a still more glaring neglect on the part of the city. These, too, will be the subject of inquiry. No, we have not given up the cause. Fine Freshman Bust While it is highly probable that many people do not have a proper appreciation for things artistic, yet it would be well to see the fine work of art recently mounted upon a pedestal between the Administration building, and the Library. This pedestal, which ordinarily serves as a sun dial, has quit telling inquisitive people the time of day in order that it might assist in holding up to view a superb bust of "The Freshman" executed in a quaint fashion. CO-OPERATION CARRIED TO AN EXTREME The present subscription campaign is a general one; it Is cot confined to the organizations you see listed on the front page. It is true that one of the two prizes offered is to the house having the largest per cent of Its mem. bers subscribers; but this is not be cause we wish to play to those organi zations, but for the reason that they are the poorest supporters of the Ne braskan. We are concentrating the attack where the opposition Is strong est. Co-operation and mutual aid the purposes for which the fraternities are organized are commendable "ideal.
