With the hats of an alumnus and a professor in the ring we
are wondering what the finals will bring.
Along comes a recent graduate with an offer of two medals to

Does Student Opinion at Nebraska
censor Buch a performance as that
of Which George De Ford was guilty,
Friday night? As I have talked with
other people concerning it, and have
heard it discussed by both men and
women, I conclude that Student Opin
ion will not stand for a recurrence
of such an act. A statement of what
ought to be the punshlment and who
ought to be punished or blamed is
not the purpose of this article.

There has been some discussion
since the beginning of the school year
as to whether or not there should be
a University Glee club here this year,
whether the benefits obtained by the
members and the University are com
mensurate with the time, energy and
money expended by the members and
those in charge. In view of the fact
that the success of the club depends
to a large degreei upon the spirit
shown by the students themselves,
this is undoubtedly a debatable ques
tion, but as the time Is near when
the club can get In its best work, the
question should be decided now.
In the first place, a well organized
Glee club may be considered as neces
sary to the University. Other large
universities have them, and they are
given and made to have an important
place in student activities. Then, too,
a Glee club affords training in a line
not touched by any other branch of
study. Many universities have both
men's and ladles' clubs. But the most
Important factor at present is the near
approach of University Extension
Week. Last year, the club played an
Important part In the program of that
week, and was well received at every
point and its work spoken of in high
ly favorable terms. It is expected out
over the state to take the same ac
tive part again this year, and the need
of this week alone is sufficient reason
why the University needs a Glee
club.
On the other hand, the advantages
to be gained by the members are
many. Training is given under high
ly competent leadership In the study
and presentation of good music. The
men get in touch with people who
know good music and meet many
worth-while people, whom they per
haps otherwise would not know. They
also know that they are helping to
boost the University, and the associa
tion of the men themselves Is no small
factor. These and many other things
accrue.
Now in this particular instance, we
may safely say that the success of the
club depends wholly upon the stu
dents. The music committee and Mrs
Raymond are ready and willing to do
their part. The managers of the Ex
tension Week program are anxious to
hftvn the assistance of the club. The
towns' asking for dates are expecting
It It is up to the students to put it
across. However, this Is not a mat
ter of one or two practices, but of
steady consistent practice from the
time of organization till the trip be
gins. Tryouts will soon be held and
It is hoped that a large number will
try, as In a school of this size there
must h? plenty of talent Selectolns
will be made by competent Judges
Men who have talent In that line
should be willing to make a little sac
rifice along other lines in order to
take advantage of the offer and to
help boost the University.
