Announcement is made of the mar
riage of Helen Scott, ex-'17 of Beat
rice, to Albert H. Kurtz, of Omaha,
to take place November 4. Miss Scott
is a member of Delta Gamma Horor
itv and of Mystic Fish society. Mr.
Kurtz attended Purdue university and
la a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon
fraternity. The Delta Gammas will
attend in a body.

proaching marriage of Helen Scott, ex

Emory Buckner, '04, of New York
City, is recovering from an operation
for appendicitis, According to informa
tion received by Prof. M. M. Fogg. Mr.
Buckner has achieved notable success
in New York City in the practice of
law and has conducted several impor
tant investigations for the government.
He also served as assistant district
attorney and in that capacity partici
pated in a number of important crim
inal prosecutions.

noon, with Mrs. A. L. Candy presid
ing. Mrs. Walter Lyndon Pope sang
and Miss Burner talked to the girls.
After the service the University Y. W.
C. A. Cabinet held a conference with
Miss Burner.
Mist Burner at Vespers
Miss Grace Helen Burritt and Chas.
Leroy Sluyter of Hastings were mar
ried last Thursday at 8:30 at the
home of the bride's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. E. W. Burritt, 2811 S street. Rev.
J. W. Hilton officiated, using the ring
ceremony. Preceding the ceremony
Miss Maud Sluyter of Clay Center,
sister of the groom, played the march
from Lohengrin, and during the
ceremony, Traumerei. The bridal
party entered in the following order:
Six bridesmaids who formed an aisle,
little Doris Peterson of Omaha, cou
sin of the bride, ring bearer; matron
of honor, Mrs. George Foster, sister of
the bride; the bride and groom, and
the Rev. J. W. Hilton. Three of tbe
bridesmaids were dressed in green
and three in white, the other ladies of
the bridal party in white. The music
and living rooms were decorated with
palms and ferns and white chrysan
themums. After the ceremony and
during congratulations Miss Katherine
Meliza of Falls City played selections
from MacDowell. The dining room
was decorated with yellow crysan
themums and the same color scheme
was carried out in the refreshments.
Mrs. A. M. Susong cut the cake,. Mrs.
C. L. Peterson of Omaha, poured the
coffee, and the Misses Pearl Barton
and Genevieve Fitzgerald assisted in
serving.
Miss Oolooah Burner of New York
City, national student secretary of Y.
W. C. A., will speak at Association
Vesper Service, tomorrow at five
o'clock, at the Temple Theater. Miss
Burner's work takes her into all of
the largest universities of the coun
try. Girls who were in school three
years ago will remember the enthusi
astic reception accorded Miss Burner
during her visit at that time. The
girls aim to show her the true Ne
braska spirit and how much they have
developed in three years. Those who
heard her yesterday will be glad of a
second opportunity. Tomorrow after
noon her subject will be "Life Invest
ments." Special music has been ar
ranged. This is the regular weekly
vesper service, but will be held in the
Temple Theater in order to accommo
date everyone.
A vote of thanks is extended to
Prof. P. H. Frye for missing Rhet 7
class Thursday. Is the new car the

Co-Ed Journalist Honored
Twelve co-eds in the School of Jour
nalism who are contemplating journal
ism as a profession had their pictures
taken in the writing room of the
school. The picture was taken at the
request of the Texas Women's Fair to
be held in Houston. The picture will
be on exhibition there next week.
There are eighteen co-eds taking
courses In this department, of whom
twelve are preparing for journalistic
careers. The three co-eds wno were
studying for the profession last year
are back again taking courses leading
to degres in 1917. Daily Texan.
Model of Gold Nugget Here
A fine model of the largest gold nug
get ever found was received at the
Museum today. It is known as the
"Welcome Nugget" and sold original
ly for $4,882.70. Its dimensions are
20x9 inches, and its weight 2,166
ounces. It was found at Ballarat,
Victoria, B. C. The model was espe
cially prepared for the University,
and is covered with pure leaf gold in
exact imitation of the original. It
has been placed on exhibition in the
mineral collections on the third floor
of the Museum. Models of other fa
mous nuggets will be added as means
will allow until all are represented.
