BALL BEARING LOKO WEARING New, Rebuilt and Rental 125 No. 13th St. B2C30 i SENIOR LAWS ELECT EXECUTIVE THREE NAMES WERE PLACED IN NOMINATION MISS TREHEARNE ELECTED Choice Was Made Unanimous on the Second Ballot George SturQlss, Law '15, Sang His "Swan Song" The most exciting class meeting of the year so far was held yesterday morning in Law 202, when the Senior "Laws" assembled to elect their chief executive. George Sturgisa, Law '15, of Sioux City, Iow"a, sang his "Swan Song" and then called for nominations for presi dent. W. L. Delzell, Law '15, of Lin coln, was named and a motion made that the nominations be closed. This motion was "howled" down with due dispatch and severity. The names of Harry Ellis, Law '15, of Beaver City, and Theodosia Trehearne, Law '15, also of Beaver City, were then pre sented. Miss Trehearne immediately asked to be allowed to withdraw in favor of Mr. Ellis. A motion was made to that effect, but the confusion was so great that an accurate count of the standing vote could not be secured. The chair therefore ruled that there were still three candidates in the field. The first ballot gave Miss Trehearne 18 votes, Mr. Ellis 11 and Mr. Delzelle 7. As none of the candidates received a majority, another ballot was order ed and a short intermission was taken At this time a number of lobbyists were seen, and many life long friend ships were severed. Before the final ballot was taken, however, each of the men candidates executed a rear attack on his oppon ent and elected Miss Trehearne unan imously, for president of the Senior Law class. What College Men Do Several opposing deductions might be made from statistics gathered by the United States bureau of educa tion. It has taken three four-year periods a century apart and found out what the college graduates of those years did as life work. From 1696 to 1700 the ministry re ceived 65.6 per cent; in 1796 to 1800 21.4 , and from 1890 to 1900 the per centage for the ministry was 5.9. Busi ness, on the other hand, reveals a de cided icrease, the percentage in 1696 to 1700 being only 1.6, from 1796 to 1800 enlarging to 5.6, and in 1896 to 1900 being 18.8 per cent of the grad uates. Education as a profession at tracting college graduates reveals also a remarkable growth from 4.7 in the early period 1696 to 1700, to 26.7 per cent In the period 1890 to 1900. The investigations show a falling off in the number of graduates choosing law and medicine in the last of the three periods studied, as contrasted with LOST Last week, lightweight black overcoat.
