Fifty-nine and two-tenths per cent
of the total population of Lincoln in
1910 was native born white and 22 710
per cent or 10,001 people were of for
eign or mixed parentage. The foreign
born whites totaled 7,200. or 16 410
per cent of the total population. Three
Indians,- four Chinese and three Jap
anese were listed.
The negro population of Lincoln has
decreased considerably in recent
years. In 1890, 1.360 negroes lived in
Lincoln, the census report for 1900
showed only 814 and for 1910, 733.

The Student Council of the Kansas
University has decided to , take over
the picture shows for one afternoon
every week and to use the proceeds
to defray the indebtedness incurred by
the Student Union.
Western Reserve University
The third chapter of the Star and
Arrow, national athletic fraternity was
installed at Western Reserve univer
sity recently. Fifteen of the univer
sity's most prominent athletes were in
itiated. The society is to elect 13 new
men each year from the Freshman
class.
Notre Dame Athlete Decides to Study
, Raymond Eichenlaub, one of the
foremost athletes at Notre Dame, has
decided to retire from athletics and
devote all his time to his studies, in
order to graduate this year. He had
already been elected captain of the
1915 football team, and was also
prominent as a track worker. It Is
possible that he will coach the Saint
Louis University team next fall.
Michigan Has Big 8tate Library
Recently compiled statistics show
that Michigan has not only the larg
est state university library, but also
one that ranks eighth in the list of
university libraries, being surpassed
only by the heavily endowed institu
tions, which rank as follows; Har
vard, Yale, Columbia. Cornell, Chicago,
Pennsylvania and Princeton.
Lead Pencil Exhibit Presented to the
Forestry College
A very interesting exhibit was re
ceived this week by the Forestry Col
lege from the Joseph Dixon Crucible
Company of Jersey City. It shows he
many different steps In the manufac
ture of lead pencils, from the crude
graphite to the finished product.
The summer boarder was glad to see
the supper table and was desirous of
letting them know he understood about
a farm.
