The initiates of the Delta Tau Delta
fraternity held a dancing party at the
chapter house Friday evening.
About thirty-five couples attended
the Delta Delta Delta dancing party
at Music Hall. Friday evening. The
party was chaperoned by Dean and
Mrs. Engberg.
The Silver Lynx fraternity enter
tained twenty-five couples at a danc
ing party at Art Hall. Friday. The
chaperones were Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Finley, Miss Graham and Frofessor
Hood.

The senior girls held an informal
party in Music Hall, Saturday after
noon. The time was spent informally
in dancing and playing cards,
freshments were served by the Black
Masques, who were in charge of the
arrangements.
Word has been received that G. L.
Fawcett. who has been stationed at
the experiment station at Mayaguez,
Porto Rico, has accepted a similar
position with the Argentina govern
ment at Tucuman. Argentina. S. A., at
a large increase in salary. Mr. Faw
cett is a graduate of the I niversity in
the class of 1905.

Forty couples attended the Sigma
Phi Epsilon dance at Rosewilde. Fri
day evening. The party was chap
eroned by Professor Kaber. Miss
The Sigma Chi fraternity held their
formal dancing party at the Lincoln
Hotel, Friday evening. Eighty couples
were present. Silver bud vases deco
rated with the Sigma Chi crest were
given as favors. The grand march
was led by Charlotte Allen and Frank
Perkins. The chaperones were Mr.
and Mrs. H. B. Grainger. Mr. and Mrs.
V, E. Hardy, Mr. and Mrs. Myron E.
Wheeler, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Chapin.

The annual banquet ot the traternity
was held at the Lincoln. Saturday

Tonight at 8 o'clock. Dr. Martin H.
I Fisher of the University of Cincinnati
will deliver the first of a series oi
lectures to students of the University
of Nebraska. The lectures will be
given in the Physics building on the
University campus. Doctor Martin is
professor of physiology in the Univer-
jsity of Cincinnati, and his lectures
will prove extremely instructive. He
will deliver five lectures during this
week and everyone is invited to at
tend. They will all deal with colloid
chemistry in the service of biology
land medicine.

2. Analogy Between the Swelling of
Colloids and Protoplasm.

Scandinavian Club
At the meeting of the Scandinavian
Club last Friday evening the follow
ing officers were chosen: President.

Beatrice Express: As an outgrowth
of the visit to the city of the Univer
sity of Nebraska gospel team, a meet
ing of students of the high school was
held at the Y. M. C. A.. Tuesday even
ing, at which a permanent organiza
tion was formed having for its object
religious and moral work among the
high school boys. Thirty-five students
of the school were present.
FRESHMAN MIXER
PROVES A SUCCESS
Large Number of First Year Men and
Women Enjoy Evening at the
Armory Saturday Night
The Freshman "mixer" Saturday
night in the Armory and Memorial
Hall was well attended by the first
year men and women. The halls had
been tastefully decorated and the en
tertainment committee assured the
success of the evening. Games were
flfd not care
jto dance, and Miss Parks was given
charge of this part of the program.
Other forms of amusement compietea
the program, which had been varied
to suit all. In the Armory an orcbes-
i tra was nrovided for the dancers, and
ithis part of the building was well
filled most of the evening toy an en
thusiastic crowd. The refreshment
committee received many congratula
tions on their selections, which in
cluded white rick ice cream with a
central green pennant, and wafers.
The Freshmen are the first to adopt
the all-University "mixer" idea and to
apply it to their class, but the success
