Aurora Hat Won Three Pat Year
Special Convocation at Farm
Given to Football Rally.
A lively scrap Is expected at the
University Farm field Friday after
noon at 3:30 when the School ot Agri
culture football team will play the
eleven from the (Aurora high school.
In the three past seasons the Aurorans
have uniformly defeated the Aggies.
In 1911 Aurora defeated the School of
Agriculture 16 to 0; In 1912. 20 to 1C.
and In 1913, 9 to 6.
To 6tlr up added enthusiasm over
the event the regular Friday morning
convocation will be given over to a
football rally.

A tight little battle Is scheduled for
this afternoon when the State Farm
boys clash with their o'd rivals from
Aurora. The Farmers have an especi
ally strong- team this year and are
due to take the up-state bunch to a

lative Reference Bureau gave an ad
dress this week before the Omaha
Economics Club upon the subject of
the Torrens system of land registra
tion. About fifty or seventy-five peo
ple were in attendance, including a
number of members-elect to the legis
lature. Three or four abstractors of
Omaha who were present desired to
participate - in the discussion which
followed the address and were per
mitted to do so.

TALK TO ENGINEERS
Lecture Dealt With Conditions in Vene
zuela Has Spent Much Time in
South America.
Jerome R. Burnett, who was former
ly in the employ of the Barber Asphalt
Co., but is now in the Geology depart
ment, lecured to the Engineering So
ciety Wednesday evening his subject
being, "Engineering in South Amer
ica." Mr. Burnett has spent a great deal
of time !n South America looking up
the prospects for crude asphalt supply.
His lecture dealt with conditions in
Venezuella in detail, telling of their
habits, customs, difficulties In trans
portation and the unsatisfactory sani
tary conditions of the country.
He said that In general the country
is one hundred years behind the rest
of the world, but as one goes south
through Uraguay, Paraguay, and Ar
gentine Republic he finds thee limate
more temperate and more progress has
been made. The capital of Venezuella
is largely invested in foreign enter
prises for the reason that the govern
ment buys the best men out of busi
ness whether they desire to sell or
not Investments for home people are
very discouraging while foreign capi
tal reselves more respect.
The large towns are quite modern,
having sewer systems, street car lines,
telegraph, and telephones. . Very close
to the limits of these cities we find
the most primitive conditions. Pioneer
ing Is very difficult as fevers are very
common. The average fellow' la ex
pected to take three doses of quinine
and then he is not strictly immune..
Some parts of the country are as arid
as the Sahara, while within a few
miles it rains every day. In the wet
districts the soil Is often fifteen ieet
deep and is among the richest in the
world.
