strictly scholarship basis. The officers
of the National Fraternity are as fol

lumbia University.

versity of Michigan.
William W. Root, secretary and
treasurer.
The founder, Wlllam W. Root, was
largely instrumental In bringing to the
attention of the Fraternity the re
markable progress made by the Uni
versity of Nebraska in true scientific
medical education.
The local chapter will be organized
some timet within the next two weeks.

Defeat Kansas Have Original
Songs and Yells.
The law students have taken to the
idea of a "Pep" gathering with a
vengeance and have reserved one hun
dred and fifty seats for the Kansas
Game. They have had several songs
and yells printed and will be out in
force to deliver them; so the commit
tee announced yesterday. The prac-

tice hours for the singers seem to be
all morning and the place in the re
spective recitation rooms of the three
law classes. The faculty seem to en
joy the spirit shown and do their ut
most for the hoys, that Ts except Dr.
Maxey, who says tha't the noise Inter
fers with his enjoyment of life and
that he Is naturally opposed to all
forms of amusement taking the form
of singing and speaking. It is hoped
by the laws however, that his spirit
will change before the Saturday game
and that they will find him, as of yore
seated on a front seat and doing his
share of the rooting.

RECEIVE OFFICES
Many Alumni Elected to Office Shows
That College Men Are Taking the
Lead in Public Life.
It will probably be of interest to
many students to learn that former
Nebraska men have been elcted to fill
various state offices.
Walter Van Fleet Hoagland, 1895,
who lives at North Platte is running
a close race with Pearson for the office
of lieutenant governor. Hoagland
graduated from the law college.
Earl D. Mallery, from Alliance has
been elected state senator from the
28th district. For the past two years
he has been serving as representative.
Carl Petrus Peterson, Delta Chi, re
ceived his L. L. B. in 1909, is the new
ly elected state representative from
the 30th district.
Ralph S. Moseley. Sigma Nu, has
also been elected to the office of state
representative.
Chas. William BeaJ, graduate of the
Law College in 1S99, and now living
at Broken Bow, is representing his dis
trict in the senate.

Will Speak at Vesper Service This

Tell of Nebraska's Part.
The Y. W. C. A. Vesper Service this
evening will be devoted to a discus
sion of "Association Work the World
Around." Several University girls will
tell briefly of the work being done in
India China, Japan and South America.
Miss Mary Gayle will speak of what
our share in it may be. This service
