HOLDS MEETING
(Continued from Page One)
Morehead were not "elected, it not only
would be a repudiation of Morehead,
but a slap at President Wilson and his
policies.
Mr. Locke said in part: "The Demo
cratic candidate for railway commis
sioner was recently dragged out of a
room, taken to th'a police station and
fined under an assumed name for
gambling. Do we have to vote for
him in order to support President Wil
son? "The Initiative and Referendum is
the acid test of whether a man is
Democratic or not. Morehead while
in the senate voted to hamstring the
bill for direct legislation.
"Mr. Howell is a large strong figure,
a heaven-sent gift to Democracy and
good government in -Nebraska. Mr.
Unwell is instictivelv straight. He is
by nature honest. He is a man of
wonderful efficiency. His leadership
will be intellectual."
After Mr. Locke finished the stu
dents discussed the question. Ap
parently all except one were for
Howell.

son and said he might be persuaded
to vote for Maguire, but protested
against using the cloak of President
WHson to get the County candidates
and Governor Morehead into office. An
immediate challenge was issued to
him, as representing the Howell club,
for a joint debate on state issues. This
was accepted and arrangements are
being made for the holding of this dis
cussion in the near future.
