Honor Is at the poorest, a thing which cannot be valued In dollars and cents. It must bo taken as the test of a man'B character, and by means of which the men of the world are meas ured. That tho low standard on which honor rests hns Its effect both In tho University and on society, as well as business, cannot be doubted, and the remedy Is found In tho stu dent body, "Am I my brother's keeper," as ex plained by Denn Bessey, Js another matter for sober consideration. There fore, wo Bhould look at tho matter on all sides and take the problem In hand and deal with It ub men and women and not students. That tho movomont must como from the stu dents was explained by Professor Fling, and therefore It depends upon tho whole student body to support the Ideas which have been advanced by representatives of tho faculty. Who will be the HrBt to push the movement? Are you In favor of It? Tho fraternities of tho University have a working system x)f their own, High Top Shoes $6.00, $7.00 and $8.50 Valves for Men $4.79 BUDD 1415 0 St. formal parties is here. It has been argued pro and con. Is there no one who has a satisfactory solution for tho mattor? If It can bo settled, and the cabB abolished except In extremely In clement weather, a more favorable time for doing it could not bo found than now. It's effect on tho legisla ture would be marked, showing them that tho students have an economical turn of mind. Besides, formal parties have not been started and If tho. plan of abolishing cabs and relieving tho tension on tho purse-strlngB, was adopted It should become effective be fore the whirl of the social season Is upon ub. THE HONOR SYSTEM. . The' discussion of the honor system at convocation Thursday provided ma terial for sober thought on tho part of a large majority of tho members of the student body of the "University of Nebraska. While tne honor system at tho present time 1b not a now thing In this institutloa or other schools of equal standing, yet the stu dents of tho University of Nebraska must come to the realization sooner or later that this, matter must be taken up and dealt with, and finally adopted. As Professor Fling stated, the mat ter is not so much tho system as it Is a matter of personal honor. That the -standard asetby students In this but will gladly subject their efforts to tho desires of tho whole student body. Why should not this school start the movement In tho Wost. Wo are the leaders by right and therefore let ub not hesitate, but be In the foro of this movement. Notice.
